Henry County has its first murder of
the year. Tonight the search is on for
the killers.

It was last night around nine,
authorities say John Anthony Finney and
his wife Denise drove to the Dutch Inn
Parking lot to meet someone.
When they got there,
investigators say a man in a car next
to them got out and opened fire.
John Finney was killed.
His wife was able to escape....
although she was hurt.
Police are looking for three men
who were riding in a car - similar to a
Pontiac - with Connecticut license
plates.

in the U-S began returning to their
jobs this morning.

Investigators say they pair went
through the drive-in, showed a gun and
demanded FOOD.
Deputies caught the pair moments
after the incident and say the gun was

Maxwell is a senior and was a
running back for the Fort Chiswell High
School football team. He's also a
guard on the basketball team.

serving Fried chicken just like the
Kennedy Fried chicken next door.... at
50 cents a plate cheaper.... that did
not sit well with the owner of the
chicken shop.
Now he's been arrested... after
admiting he used a hammer to punch a
hole in the wall between the two
stores. Police say he then lit the
donut shop on fire.
The blaze destroyed the donut shop
but the chicken restaurant was
untouched. no one was hurt.

slate of primetime games kicked off
last night with the Fiesta Bowl, and if
you were like most people who had to
get up early and get back to work today
- you missed what will likely be the
most entertaining bowl game of the
postseason as Boise State beat Oklahoma
in overtime with the help of some plays
you often run on the playground.

Oklahoma was all but done as Paul
Thompson threw this interception to
Marty Tadman. He returned it for a
touchdown as the Broncos led the
Sooners 28-to-10 with 8 minutes left in
the third quarter.
But Oklahoma mounted furious
rally and when Thompson's tipped pass
landed in the arms of Quentin Chaney
with 1:26 to play - the Sooners had
battled all the way back to tie the
game at 28-all.
It appeared that the game was
headed to overtime, but eventual game
MVP Paul Zabransky had his pass picked
off by Oklahoma cornerback Marcus
Walker and returned 33 yards for a
touchdown to put the Sooners ahead
35-to-28 with just 1:02 remaining.
Boise then decided to show folks
why it had made it through the entire
season unbeaten. Facing a 4th and 18
just a few seconds to play from
midfield - Zabransky hit Drisan James
at Oklahoma's 35, and James pitched the
ball to Jerard Rabb, on the hook and
ladder. He scored with seven second to
play to send the game to overtime tied
at 35-all.
Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson opened
the overtime with a 25-yard touchdown
run and the Sooners went for one - to
take a 41-to-35 lead.
But as you've already seen no
lead was safe in this one. The Broncos
lined their quarterback up at wide
receiver and a running back at
quarterback and on fourth down Vinny
Perretta's Derek Schouman to make it
41-to-40.
But the third trick play was the
difference maker. The Broncos pull off
the Statue of Liberty play as Zabransky
looked at three wide receivers to his
right, then handed the ball behind his
back to tailback Ian Johnson.
Boise State beat Oklahoma
42-to-41 in overtime and finishes the

You may remember Patrick Evans..
and Carol Novotny--- the two were
married on Saturday in Palm Springs.

together in Roanoke. Carol was a
weather anchor here on News 7 from 1987
to 1990, and Patrick followed her.
But they recently re-connected,
