One of the hardest hit areas was in
the central part of the city,
specifically Water Street

Yesterday morning, 15 residents had
to be evacuated by rescue boat because
the water was rising on both ends of
the street.

Here at the Carmel Baptist Church,
workers were trying to clean out the
food pantry when disaster struck.

By nightfall, the water began to
recede but there was still quite a bit
of flooding along the Dan River.

Here at this shopping plaza, the
parking was still completely underwater
forcing many businesses to close for
the night.

We understand residents on Water
Street will be able to return to their
homes today.
