OQ=...68-TO-67 OVERTIME WIN." << As Duke rolled onto its home
(END SOT) floor, many of the Cameron Crazies were
wearing shirts to help remind the
Hokies of that heartbreaking loss.
But the Hokies were focused from
the start as they jumped on top of Duke
and raced out to a 8-to-nothing lead as
Zabian Dowdell, Jamon Gordan and
freshman Lewis Withcer all chipped in
at the start.
The Hokies defense was the key -
especially in the backcourt and Gordon
and Dowdell dominated Greg Paulus. He
was held scoreless and committed five
turnovers.
In all Duke turned it over 20
times as the Hokies never trailed in
the first half and led 38-to-33 at the
break.
That lead ballooned to as many as
nine after intermission as Gordon hit
this circus shot falling to the floor
and Deron Washington jumper completely
over Paulus and dropped in a fingeroll.
Still despite those amazing
efforts - the outcome was far from
decided. With 17 seconds to go -
Demarcus Nelson - who led all scorers
with 22 points sent the game to
overtime tied at 64-all with this step
back three pointer.
A.D. Vassallo hit on of two free
throws with under 10 seconds to go to
give Tech a two point lead.
But it wasn't until Washington -
swatted down Paulus's three pointer at
the buzzer that the Hokies had what
they'd waited an entire year for - a
win over Duke.
Tech is now 2-and-0 in the ACC
with the 69-to-67 overtime win.

Generals vs. Maroons Fourth year W&L head coach Adam
:00 Hutchinson has his most competitive
team yet and tonight they would make
this one interesting from the start.
Roanoke's Josh Laporte drives in
the lane, kicks the ball out to Keith
Carter and the Northside product will
drain the three pointer.
Washington & Lee would counter as
Isaiah Goodman - the Generals'
sophomore guard will take the pass and
drop in a three ball of his own as W&L
led by as many as 10 points in the
first half.
The Maroons' Ben Shrader would
then show his skills as the Tazewell
native take the ball off the wing,
makes a nice move and hits the pullup
jumper.
Chris Halkitis would look to feed
the ball down low for W&L, but instead
he decides to pull up for a jumper of
his own.
But Senior Bart Davis would help
Roanoke's cause as he knocks down a
three pointer from the top of the key.
