Wednesday Here's the fear, no one wants a
repeat of last week when the Dan River
crested causing severe flooding and
damage in some areas.

The river has receded some since
then but the National Weather Service
warns even one to two inches is all it
will take for another spill.

Emergency coordinators are
advising those who live in places prone
to flooding to go ahead and safeguard
valuables and be ready to evacuate.

bad news for a number of families.

Tonight many of them are without
a home after flames ripped through the
Park Inn Apartments on Melrose Avenue
around 12 this afternoon.

The Red Cross and Immigration
services are working with those who
were displaced to find shelter.


The damage is estimated at about
200-thousand dollars.

The cause is under investigation.

County are facing charges in
connnection with a shooting earlier
this weekend on Spanish Oak Road.

Last Night Authorities say the argument
started Friday between two brothers,
but last night it turned physical with
even more people jumping in.

Randy Stump, a foster father to
one of the brothers sustained the most
serious injury with a gunshot wound to
the hip.

Another man David Hood was also
shot in the leg.

He's been arrested and charged
with malicious wounding of the first
victim.

Two other men, Douglas Howes and
Matthew Coggins were also taken into
custody on similar charges.

nation's capital has injured 16 people.

afternoon a Green Line Metro train
jumped the tracks.

The Metro station had to be shut
down as officials helped passengers off
the train.

Sixteen people were injured but

arrested two teenagers who are accused
of killing a state trooper.

Authorities say hunters found the
body of Trooper Calvin Jenks beside his
patrol car near a highway intersection
in Tipton County.

That's north of Memphis.

Footage from the patrol car's
camera shows Jenks pulling over two men
and trying to get them out of their

vehicle.

The trooper was shot twice, at
least once in the head.

Alejandro Guana and Orlando
Garcia were arrested without incident
at a hotel near downtown Nashville.

Authorities believe the men had
drugs in their car.

past security in a 40 foot tractor
trailer.

morning when a 20-year-old Iraqi
National tried to drive a truck onto
port property.

The driver indicated he was
alone.

But when he didn't present the
right ID...investigators searched the

from the racing world. Bobby Hamilton
has passed away tonight at the age of
49, after a battle with cancer that
lasted just under a year.

Series career that spanned 15 years,
ammassing more than 14 million dollars
in winnings. His best year was 1996
when he finished 9th in points.
Hamilton drove for the Pettys, Andy

behind the wheel in the Truck Series

the past four years. Hamilton was
diagnosed with head and neck cancer
last February, after a malignant growth
was found when swelling from dental
surgery did not go down.
