January 2006 You may remember this house fire last
January in Clifton Forge. Firefighters
believe it caught fire when someone was
refilling a kerosene heater.
The home was a total loss but luckily
everyone got out safely.
Scenes like this are all too common.
Last year in Virginia, 15-percent of
home fires were related to heating
sources.
Nationwide in 2003, heating equipment
caused more than 53-thousand fires,
which led to 260 deaths.

year.
When he and his parents
discovered a treatment plan they liked
in Mexico a legal battle ensued with a
judge threatening to force the teen to
undergo chemotherapy instead.
A Virginia Beach delegate wants
parents to be allowed to make
alternative choices without facing
neglect charges.
However, parents would have to
meet certain conditions - like making
the decision with their child.
Meanwhile, Cherrix says his
cancer is in remission and he's feeling
great.

Morva late this evening for the capitol
murder of Eric Sutphin.

Police say Morva escaped custody
in August and killed the two while on

:00 Welsh has been charged with driving
under the influence in Albemarle
County. Welsh's first appearance in
Albemarle County General District Court
is scheduled for tomorrow morning. He
was spotted driving erratically on the
U.S. 250 bypass near Charlottesville
near midnight last Friday. Welsh, who
is 73, was given a field sobriety test
and based on that test, he was charged
with DUI and arrested. He also was
charged with refusing to take a
breathalyzer, according to police.
