File Tape Here in Virginia, a proposed law
would require companies and state
agencies to notify citizens when their
information has been lost or stolen.
A recent state audit found the
majority of state agencies are doing a
poor job of protecting personal
information.
The legislation would give those
agencies a year to clean up their acts.
Businesses that fail to notify
citizens could face action by the
Attorney General.
