Police say the door to a trailer being
pulled by a truck came loose and the
cows jumped at 65 miles an hour.

Truck driver John Dennis saw the whole
thing happen.

fall and rolled into this embankment.
The Sheriff's office shot her to end
her suffering.

Cow number 2 caused vehicles to slam on
their brakes. That's when one tractor
trailer rear ended another.

with failure to secure a load.

That's a misdemeanor.

Memorial Hospital last night and ended
up in the Roanoke River.

An officer jumped in after Pierre
Lamont Carter but could not hold onto
the man in the icy, black water.

City police had taken Carter to the
hospital to serve him with an emergency
custody order around 8:45 Tuesday
evening.

normal but inside workers have been

Even with this second contract
offer currently on the table, the union
insists it's not at all in the best

agree a strike is still avoidable.

Virginians oppose changing state law to
allow hunting on Sundays, an issue
which could come up in this year's
General Assembly.

VO-NAT Our News-7-Survey USA Poll asked

500 state residents yesterday for their
opinion. 34 per cent favor Sunday
hunting, but 61 per cent oppose it.

We conducted a similar poll
*CG locator Bedford Co. in our 25-county viewing area in November November and found regional opposition
is even stronger - 66 per cent.

A Department of Game and Inland
Fisheries random survey of licensed
hunters showed 53 per cent favored
Sunday hunting, but our statewide poll
found 53 per cent of hunters OPPOSE it.

for an autopsy to tell them how a man
died while being held in the city jail
early this morning.

Authorities say 47-year-old Steve
Edward Walker was arrested yesterday on
assault and battery and being drunk in
public.

He was placed in a holding cell
where jailers indicate they checked on
him twice every hour.

Shortly after midnight, a jail
staffer noticed Walker was not
breathing and was unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead at the
Danville hospital.

being reinstated after he was cleared
of assault charges.

sexual or physical assault against two
inmates at the Roanoke County jail.

After the defense poked holes in
the inmates' testimony, a judge found

Hodges NOT guilty last month.

Hodges was placed on paid
administrative leave when the
accusations were made.

charges, Salem Schools has reinstated
Hodges.

on the U.S. 250 bypass near
Charlottesville near midnight last
Friday.

The 73 year old former coach, who
inducted into the Chick-fil-a hall of
fame last month, was given a field

sobriety test, charged with DUI and
arrested.

He also was charged with refusing
to take a breathalyzer test, according
to police.

superspeedway.

Robert Yates started 2006 with
Dale Jarrett and Elliott Sadler behind

Ricky Rudd.
