Soon after the gavel falls in
Richmond lawmakers will hop on a bus
for Jamestown.

Their first stop will be
Jamestown Memorial Church.

That's where they'll hear from
Vice President Dick Cheney- who's in to
help commemorate 400- years since the
founding of Jamestown.

The church marks the spot where
the first representative government in
the U-S met in 16-19.

So many officials in one place
means tight security, but for Virginia
Capitol Police, going to Jamestown is
like going home.

Firefighters believe it caught fire
when someone was refilling a kerosene

The home was a total loss but luckily
everyone got out safely.

Scenes like this are all too common.

Last year in Virginia, 15-percent of
home fires were related to heating
sources.

Nationwide in 2003, heating equipment
caused more than 53-thousand fires,
which led to 260 deaths.

There are a number of things you can
do to protect you and your home. You
should have at least a 36- inch
clearance between space heaters and
anything flammable.

The same goes for fireplaces.
