This Morning
Roanoke Police and Fire personnel are
searching the Roanoke River for a
missing man. They say he was last seen
in the river around midnight.
Police say they are looking for Pierre
Lamont Carter. They describe him as a
black, five feet-11 inches tall,
weighing 160 pounds, and last seen
wearing a white t-shirt, red
sweatpants, and no shoes.
Roanoke Police say the search is
centered near Roanoke Memorial
Hospital. The effort began last night
and resumed this morning.
Police are not yet releasing additional
circumstances surrounding that search,
but earlier today, Roanoke City
dispatch personnel told us that a man
in police custody ran away from Roanoke
Memorial Hospital overnight and into
the river. They told us the man was not
considered dangerous and was in custody
only because he had an outstanding
warrant.

will be reinstated to his job after he
was cleared of charges on sexual
assault.

sexual or physical assault against two
inmates at the Roanoke County jail.
The inmates claimed the incidents
happened while Hodges was tutoring them
one- on- one for the G-E-D.

in the inmates' testimony, a judge
found Hodges NOT guilty last month.
Hodges was placed on paid
administrative leave when the
accusations were made.

His first day back at work will be
January 23rd.

killed a 14- year- old boy just outside

in six weeks.
The boy reportedly died four days

outbreaks in Vietnam, as well as a new
human case reported in China.

producer of the film, "Doctor Zhivago"
in 19-65.
Carlo Ponti was 94 years old.

But it was her role on T-V's "The

DeCarlo reportedly took the role to
pay medical expenses after her husband,
stuntman Bob Morgan, lost his legs in
an accident on a movie set.
Yvonne De Carlo was 84.

under the influence in Albemarle County

He was spotted driving
erratically on the U.S. 250 bypass near
Charlottesville around midnight last

charged with D-U-I and arrested.
He also was charged with refusing
to take a breathalyzer, according to
police.

testing wraps up at Daytona today.

voting totals for Major League Baseball
were released yesterday afternoon.
And two fan favorites got a lot of
love from the voters, while another was
sent a very loud message.

Baseball's "Iron Man" was picked
by 537 voters, and appeared on 98 and
half percent of ballots to finish with
the third-highest percentage ever

by Tony Gwynn, who received 532 votes
for the seventh- highest total ever.
