attack was aimed at the very heart of
the US Embassy in the Greek capital of
Athens. Investigators say a small
anti-tank shell narrowly missed the
embassy seal, piercing the front of the
building and shattering windows. They
say attackers launched the missile from
a nearby construction site. It sailed
across a six lane boulevard before
striking the third floor, which houses
the US ambassador's office...but it
happened before dawn, and the
ambassador hadn't arrived yet. CHARLES

an early morning house fire in
Petersburg.

information at a later time.

performed on them yesterday.
The operations turned out to be
much more involved than expected, and
as a result both players will miss all
of spring practice.

Chris Ellis, a rising senior
defensive end, underwent surgery on his
shoulder - an area that caused Ellis
discomfort throughout the season.
Once in the operating room, it
was discovered that he had a torn
labrum, an injury similar to what
tailback Branden Ore had last spring.
Sergio Render, a rising sophomore
offensive guard, had surgery on his
knee.
Head trainer Mike Goforth said
doctors trimmed some cartilage in his
knee as expected, but then had to work
on another set of cartilage in the same
knee.
