Breaking news out of Roanoke....

Police say a man has drowned in
the Roanoke River.

Just before 4 o'clock....police
got a call about an incident in the
16-hundred block of Wiley Drive.

By the time EMS and fire got
there....4 people passing buy had
gotten a man out of the river.

The man was taken to the hospital
and pronounced dead.

Police are investigating how he
got into the river.

No name has been released at this
time.

discovered in the restrooms.

Guard released a statement
through his attorney that says he has
"always tried to discipline children
fairly" and believes "he will be
exonerated."

they would not have had a problem if
that punishment was given to their

he was her 5th grade gym teacher.

And she says he has always been a
fair disciplinarian and doesn't see
anything wrong with a punishment one
parent says Guard gave her son.

a shooting that happend yesterday
evening around 7:30 at the Highland
Heights apartments on Wesley Drive.

Police found the victim in
the parking lot with multiple gun shot
wounds.

He was taken to Danville
Regional Medical Center and is
recovering from surgery.

to give low-income residents and
families some relief from state taxes
is being well-received among a number
of community service agencies.

Kaine wants to raise the income
tax threshold for individuals from
7-thousand to 12-thousand dollars a

year and from 14 to 24-thousand for

The shift would mean almost
150-thousand Virginians would no longer
have state income tax deducted from
their paychecks.

this evening after a roof collapsed.

It happened at the Brooks Run
Mine in McDowell County.

The accident occurred up to a
mile-and-a-half from the entrance of
the mine.

The miners are the first
fatalities in West Virginia coal mines
this year.

take down the top ranked North
Carolina Tarheels.

The Hokies fell behind early, but
A.D. Vassallo cameoff the bench for
Derom Washington when he got in foul
trouble and with A.D. leading the way
the Hokies went on a 17-to-nothing run
over a four and a half minute period to
put the Heels in a serious hole

Zabian Dowdell led the Hokies
with 10 first half points and this
three in the closing seconds gave Tech
a 10 point lead at the half.

It only got worse for the Heels
as Jamon Gordon got this steal and
transition jam to puch the lead to 17
points at the 14 minute mark of the

week this afternoon as Dave Leitao's
club made the trek to Chestnut Hill,
Massachusetts to tangle with the always
physical Boston College Golden Eagles.
