SMOKING BAN FS IN MONITOR Brandon Bell isn't the only lawmaker
proposing anti-smoking legislation.

Delegate Morgan Griffith of Salem has
filed a bill that would prohibit
restaurants from allowing smoking
unless they post signs at all public
entrances indicating that smoking is
permitted.

Natasha, one restaurant owner told me
tonight he thinks Griffith's bill is
silly because it doesn't do anything
but create another added expense.

Fralin is blowing new life into a bill
that would fine smokers who throw their

cigarette butts on the ground.

The bill died last year, but
Fralin changed it this year so fines
would be used to create a program on

would make it illegal to smoke in cars
with kids....

VO-NAT In Connecticut, lawmakers are


considering it and the whole idea came
from a child.

The proposed bill would protect
children under the age of seven, from
second hand smoke.

Crossing into Maine, where the same
thing is happening in Bangor..... the
city recently passed an ordinance
banning smoking in cars carrying

passengers under 18.

While the proposed legislation in
Connecticut is just that, proposed, the
ordiance in Maine goes into affect
later this week.

the company of more than 120 members
