Housing Authority has responded to a
critical report from the Department of
Housing and Urban Development.

The authority is asking federal
officials to reconsider their
requirement that the local agency
reimburse close to two million dollars
in federal funds.

go on trial in March.

September 2006 65 year old Jonathan Utin was
scheduled for trial NEXT week on 17
charges involving a 12 year old girl.

The judge delayed the trial this
morning, because Utin's attorney has
pneumonia.

Utin taught math and science at
Blacksburg Middle School for 35 years.

He's accused of molesting the
girl over several years in both Ohio
and Blacksburg.

He's being held in an Ohio jail
on a 250-thousand dollar bond.

asking a judge to throw out a 6-point-3
million dollar lawsuit.

being sued by a 17 year old
Christiansburg girl.

The teen says she had a sexual
relationship with Vick for nearly 2
years.


According to the lawsuit the girl
dropped out of school and suffered
psychological trauma.

Vick's attorney never addresses
whether Vick had a relationship with
the girl, but he says there's no basis
for the civil suit.

in police custody, Lynchburg's
prosecutor says he's ready to release
his findings in the case of Clarence
Beard Junior.

police were arresting him inside his

home at the James Crossing apartment
complex on September 24th.

An autopsy suggested heart problems
were the cause of death, but local

he'll release tomorrow afternoon.

Danville Goodyear plant to pay hundreds
of thousands of dollars to more than
800 women denied jobs there in the late
1990s.

The U-S Labor Department sued
Goodyear last June, claiming the women
were denied entry-level jobs because of
their gender.

They had applied for positions at
the plant in 1998 and 1999.

As part of a consent decree,
Goodyear agreed to pay the women a
total of 925-thousand dollars.

60 of them will be hired on at the

plant, provided they can meet current
eligibility requirements.

union between one man and one woman,
some want to make it tougher to get a
divorce in Virginia.

Virginia law allows no- fault
divorces.

That means a marriage can be
dissolved without either party showing
fault.

Delegate Bob Marshall thinks
that's why the divorce rate is so high.

He wants to deny couples with
young children a no- fault divorce if
either spouse objects.

Another bill would allow couples
to sign a pre or post- nuptial
agreement to make it more difficult to
get out of the marriage.


Roanoke pastor Myron Atkinson
helped the Family Foundation lobby for
the bills today.

He believes the proposed laws
would make couples think before bailing
out of a marriage.

Benny Parsons passed away at the age of
65 due to complications from Lung
Cancer.

Parsons won a Winston Cup Title
in 1973 and a Daytona 5-hundred in
1975, then moved into the broadcast
booth after his driving career ended.

Daytona reacted to his passing.
