At least five people have died on
Texas highways and more than 50
nationwide since storms began last
weekend. hundreds of thousands
remain without power and heat, mostly
in Oklahoma and Missouri.

Icy conditions also forced dozens of
flight cancellations.with

Austins airport actually running out

In California.. governor arnold
schwarzenegger is seeking federal
disaster aide after freezing
temperatures destroyed part of the
state's one billion dollar citrus crop.
its feared 70 percent of
oranges, lemons and grapefruits are
lost .

And north of Los Angeles ...a very
unusual sight.. snow and ice shutdown
a freeway .

Karen Brown: Here in New York City..
theres no snow just yet.. but it is
plenty cold. After weeks of
unseasonably warm temperatures the
mercury has suddenly gone south.

"I was getting used to the warm weather
but it didnt seem right."

"It kind of feels good, it finally
feels like winter, but Im pretty

miserable right now."

And, more misery could be in store
for New Yorkers and others in the
region. .. snow and ice may accompany
the frigid temperatures later this
