Divorce reform is on the Family
Foundation's agenda that some local
folks were in Richmond yesterday to
help push.

Virginia law allows no- fault
divorces....that means a marriage can

be dissolved without either party
showing fault.

Delegate Bob Marshall wants to
change that by denying couples with
young children a no- fault divorce if
either spouse objects.

Another bill would allow couples
to sign a pre or post- nuptial
agreement to make it more difficult to
get out of the marriage.

Supporters believe limiting
divorce will help children.

WAS A HORRIBLE INSTITUTION...

Yesterday Delegate Frank Hargrove
answered a call from a Charlottesville
newspaper reporter who wanted to hear
his thoughts on a resolution to issue a
state apology for slavery.

Hargrove said he thinks
Virginia's black citizens need to get
over it.

1:33:54 DEL. FRANK HARGROVE: NOT A
SOUL IN THIS LEGISLATURE HAD ANYTHING
TO DO WITH SLAVERY.

Delegate Dwight Jones, chairman
of the Legislative Black Caucus says
he's appalled.

APOLOGIZE. I WANT TO APOLOGIZE TO THE
MOTHERS AND FATHERS OF MY ANCESTORS WHO
WERE TRANSPORTED TO THIS NATION AGAINST
THEIR WILL IN ORDER THAT THIS NATION
MIGHT BE BUILT UPON THEIR BACKS.

Delegate Hargrove wonders if an
apology for slavery would lead to
forcing Jews to apologize for killing
Jesus Christ.

That angered his Jewish seat-
mate Delegate David Englin- who's
ancestors fled Poland to seek religious
freedom in the U-S.

Holding up a picture of his son,
Englin worried intolerant words from
respected leaders could lead to more
violence..
