Police say a driver headed
northbound on Plantation lost control
of the car, drove through someone's
yard, then crashed into a utility pole.

Crews are on the scene now trying
to repair the damaged pole.

The driver did not suffer serious
injuries, and no charges have been
filed at this time.

State politicans today announced
they've reached a compromise on
transportation funding.

would be issued next year, followed by
another 700- million in 2012.

Bad drivers would be charged
higher fees- raising an estimated 61-
million dollars.

Half of the state's surplus money
would also go into the road fund.

To ensure the new money is spent
wisely, lawmakers want V-Dot to set up
statewide performance measures.

Republicans also want to improve

the way localities plan growth.

Falcons' General Manager Rich McKay
about the recent investigation into
Falcon's and former Virginia Tech
quarterback Michael Vick.

This after a TSA official found a
secret compartment in Vick's water
bottle that allegedly had marijuna
residue in it.

McKay stressed to reporters today
Vick understands as a quarterback he is
a symbol of the team and is sorry for
what he did. And that the organization
will deal with the incident, as well as

Bedford County has left community

members in mourning.

County supervisor Bobby Pollard
was killed in a farming accident at his
home early this afternoon on Shadow
Mountain Lane near Blue Ridge.

County administrator Kathleen Guzi
(GUZZ-ee) says Pollard was feeding his
cattle when his tractor flipped over,
killing him.

ground tonight...A US Airways flight

from Philadelphia to Roanoke made an
emergency landing in Charlottesville
today, after the pilot reported a fire
in the cockpit, and a cracked
windshield.

Flight 43-39 was due to arrive
here at 11:44 this morning, but the
Dash-8 Turbo prop was diverted to
Charlottesville Albemarle Airport.

The plane landed without incident
and no injuries were reported.

Passengers say they smelled an
electrical odor fifteen to twenty
minutes before they landed, but didn't
realize anything was seriously wrong.

They completed their trip with a
cab ride back to Roanoke Regional
Airport, arriving about two hours
behind schedule.
