mysterious illness in Radford continued
to make their way to the hospital last
night.

VO-NAT Doctors say nearly 70 patients
showing similar symptoms have been
treated since early Friday morning.
The Virginia Department of Health
is heading up an investigation.
They do know however that this is
some form of a gastrointestinal
illness.
But so far though, the cause has
not been pinpointed.

Graves knew something was wrong. She
was balled into a fetal position and
could barely sleep.

intensified and she began experiencing
shooting pains in her abdomen and
headaches.

drove herself to the emergency room.

COME IN WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS.
THEY GOT ME INTO THE BED RIGHT AWAY,

health department is now calling it a
localized outbreak.

SIMILAR SITUATIONS AT THE SAME TIME OR
WITHIN A VERY SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.
AND THAT SUGGESTS THAT THERE IS SOME
SORT OF COMMONALITY THERE.

OQ= One common thread is that many of
those treated ate at the Dalton Hall
food court on Radford's campus.
By Friday, the University closed
two of the four restaurants as a
precaution.
At this point the health
department says the symptoms are
consistent with a gastrointestinal
illness.

is not a public health threat.
However, if you are experiencing
symptoms you should contact your doctor
or go the hospital.
As this point, Radford University
says those 2 restaurants are normally
closed for the weekend.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Fire A house fire turned deadly this
morning in Lynchburg.
Firefighters were called out to
59-12 Ford Avenue around 5:30.
When they got there, the second
floor of the home was heavily engulfed.
Crews did discover one body in
the home.
The victim's name has not been
released.

woman is in the hospital after a single
car accident in Roanoke County.

The accident happened this
morning in the 25-hundred block of Loch
Haven Drive.
Police say 25-year-old Nicholas
Edward Janney was pronounced dead the
scene.
19-year-old Amber Michelle Keith
was injured and taken to Roanoke
Memorial.
It's unclear on what caused the
crash.
Police say neither occupant was
wearing their seatbelt.

traffic accident on Virginia's Eastern
Shore.
State police say an S-U-V swerved
into oncoming traffic and landed on top
of a pickup truck.
Four men in the S-U-V and a
two-year-old child in the pickup were
killed.
The child's mother and another
victim are beign treated for their
injuries at a Norfolk hospital.

Starting soon signs like this are
going to be easier to read.
It's all apart of the VDOT'S plan
to make the roads safer for Virginia's
older drivers - which now make up 13
percent of the population.
Gradually, road crews will be
phasing in traffic signs with clearer
lettering - and for night drivers
expect to see more reflective lighting.
As far as the road itself,
they'll be more age-friendly too.

have died in a helicopter crash in
Iraq.
The helicopter went down
northeast of Baghdad...killing everyone
aboard.
Military officials say they have
secured the site and the incident is
under investigation.
It happened in a violent area
where U-S and Iraqi forces have been
battling Sunni insurgents and Shiite
militia forces around the city of
Baqouba (bah-KOO'-bah) for months.
