suspect who alledgedly raped and
kidnapped a woman as she pulled into
work.

VO NAT It happened this morning just
before ten at the Alleghany Highlands
Community Service Board.

Police say a woman was getting
out of her car when a man approached
her with a gun.

He reportedly forced her to drive
into Botetourt County where he raped
her on Callie Mines Road, before
driving her back into Clifton Forge and
taking off on foot.

A traffic slow down tonight on U-S
220 in Roanoke.

V-DOT is cleaning up debris in the
road between Elm and Colonial Avenues.

One Southbound lane is closed.

A little earlier this afternoon,
it was an overturned jeep that caused
problems on 419.

It happened in the Tanglewood Mall
area, near the 220 bypass....shutting
down all but one lane on 419.

Police say a driver was coming off
of Frontage Road onto 419 and clipped
the back of the red jeep, causing it to
roll over.

Rescue crews had to pull the two
adults out of the SUV but police say
there were no life threatening injuries

accident.

three.

Police say Cheryl Sweeney was
crossing the intersection of Thompson
Memorial Drive and Cleveland Avenue
when she collided with a car driven by
Linda Bandy.

The bus reportedly had
six-students onboard from West Salem
Elementary.

The children were unharmed.. but
the car's driver was taken to Lewis
Gale Medical Center, where she's in
stable condition.

Tonight, the supervisors are
expected to join 40 other localities in
Virginia that have made the same
decision.

morning.

In 2005, Knox was at the center
of a federal racketeering case.

The doctor surrendered his
medical license and paid five-thousand

cut and dry, it's just been tough
getting it before a judge.

this week revealed out of 500
Virginians surveyed, 7 out of 10 say
bring on the ban.

VO-NAT Here's another way to look at

it.

71 percent favor a smoking ban
in public places including restaurants.

If you rewind the clock, last
year, only 68 percent supported the
idea.

Senator Brandon Bell is the one
fueling this "all-out" ban.

There is a second bill floating
around the legislature from Salem
Delegate Morgan Griffith.

He'd like to prohibit restaurants
from allowing people to smoke unless
the restaurants post signs at its
entrances alerting customers of its
decision.

Here are the results of that
poll.

You can see a majority also
showing strong support- 52 percent
versus 36.

We should point non-smokers
heavily favored this idea.

lawsuits that were seeking to prevent
Randolph-Macon Woman's College from
admitting men next fall.

school, claiming a breach of contract

when its Board of Trustees voted last
fall to start admitting men.

The students are seeking an
injunction that would prevent the
school from implementing that plan
until at least 2010, when currently
enrolled students will graduate.

But a judge ruled today there was
no breach, and courts were not set up
to micromanage charitable and public
trusts.

quick turnaround this week. They

played Sunday Night at home against
Maryland and are now back on the court
tonight taking on Miami in South Beach.

The Hurricanes come in struggling
with a 9 and 11 overall record and 2
and 4 in the A-C-C. Part of the reason
for Miami's sub-par record has been the
injury bug. The Canes have already
lost 3 players to season ending
injuries, but that will not deter their
Head Coach.

spotlight, but it's unclear at this

DEI and what will be said.

Earnhardt Junior's teammate as DEI, has
been arrested and charged with
disorderly intoxication. After a
night out with friends, Truex was
ticketed for urinating in the corner of
a parking garage connected to Ocean
Walk Shoppes in Daytona Beach

The poorlyplanned pit stop cost
him a $208 ticket from a Volusia County
Beach Patrol officer and quite a bit of
embrassment.

The police report says he had to
be asked seven times to put his hands
behind his back before he cooperated
with authorities.

It also states that when the
police officer approached Truex he told
him that he hoped what he was doing was
worth $100 dollars, and that Truex
responded by pulling out a $100 bill.

Truex has appologized to his
fans, and his sponsor Bass Pro shops.
