It's Wednesday night, and
Johnathan Dillon is on stage between
the bread rack and the beer case,
entertaining family, friends and fans
at T's Market near Hardy.

(MORE NAT SOUND)

Though he recently celebrated his
12th birthday, Dillon is already a
seasoned veteran of the local bluegrass
scene with a band and three CDs for
sale.

He's been playing since he was 7
1/2.

29:04 I JUST LIKE SORT OF THE RHYTHM OF
SOME OF IT, AND I JUST LIKE THE WAY IT
SOUNDS AND STUFF AND I JUST SAID HEY
MAYBE I CAN PLAY IT. AND THEN I
STARTED. 29:14

With lessons from Glade Hill
musician Dewey Prillaman, Dillon
started on the fiddle... but the
mandolin, guitar, upright bass and
banjo soon followed.

37:28 HAVE YOU BEEN SURPRISED AT HOW
HE'S TAKEN TO THE MUSIC? YES VERY
SURPRISED, BUT HE JUST SEEMS TO LOVE IT
MORE EVERY DAY. HE'S REALLY AMBITIOUS!
37:38

The musicians who jam with
Johnathan say he has unlimited
potential...

32:43 HE HAS WHAT WE CALL THE GIFT, AND
HE'S GOING TO BE SOMETHING SPECIAL DOWN
THE ROAD. 04:32:48

And the young picker has plans of
his own...

(NAT SOUND OF MUSIC)

... to one day play on the Grand
Ole Opry.
