remains in jail today, accused of rape
and malicious wounding.
But members of his family say HE
is the victim in a case of mistaken
identity.

The judge appointed an attorney
to represent him, and ordered him held
without bond until a court hearing next
week.
Relatives who attended the
arraignment said their hearts go out to
the woman who was assaulted, but they
are certain Washburn was not

They collected samples of DNA,
fingerprints and other evidence, but it
may be a month or more before testing
is complete.

went to work searching for the suspect.
With the help of a junior college
professor, they developed a picture of
the man they were looking for.

was able to help the victim of a
Clifton Forge rape build a composite of
the man she says victimized her.

During this process, Boyer did
ask the victim a series of questions.
However, he says you have to be
objective so that you don't influence
the outcome.

patching potholes on Interstates 81 and
77 this weekend.
They will be working along I-81
from Bristol to the Pulaski County
line, and in lanes along all of I-77.

Interstate 581, and the Route 220
Expressway.
V-DOT is asking motorists to

left to close to a flue for causing a
house fire in the northwest portion of
Roanoke County yesterday.

Flames were showing from the
house when firefighters arrived.

counties in mid-Michigan yesterday.
Some six inches of snow forced
officials to close several school
districts early and cancel afternoon

degrees, making roadways even more

night.

Barham is believed to be driving
