Mount is grieving the loss of his wife
after their mobile home went up in
flames last night.

Seventy five-year-old Rosemary
Spencer was trapped inside.

Ticker and while it maybe a stretch to
say the Virginia Tech Men's Basketball
Team is on top of the World right now,
it's no exageration at all to say they
are on top of the A-C-C and continue to
rise in the Polls.

With 2 wins on the road in the
conference have moved the Hokies up to
number 16 from 24 in the Associated
Press Poll and up to Number 18 from
23rd in the Coaches' Poll.

A Big Reason for Tech's 6 and 1
Record in the A-C-C has been Zabian
Dowdell.

The Senior Guard from Pahokee,
Florida continued his stellar Season
and for the second time in 3 weeks he
earned Conferences player of the week
honors

Dowdell averaged almost 27 points
in the Hokies 2 games this week. That
included a career High 30 in Tech's win
at Miami. He backed that up 23
against Georgia Tech Yesterday.

ZabE leads the team in scoring
with 18 points per game, but has upped
that average up to 21 points per game
in A-C-C play.

Tech is back home this Wednesday
when they host N.C. State at the
Cassell. Tip-off is at 9 o'clock.

Williams was named the Co-player of
week for averaging 34 points and 8
rebounds in 3 games for the Keydets.
It's the third time that Williams has

afternoon as the head coach at Army.

August 2001 Richmond native Bobby Ross, who
retires earlier this decade and moved
back to Lexington stepped down at Army
today after three season of leading the
Black Knights football team. The
Richmond native and VMI grad had a
9-and-25 record with Army. The
70-year-old Ross came out of retirement
to coach a team that had been on a
15-game losing streak and brought
respectibility back to the program.

Ross won a national championship
at Ga. Tech in 1990 and also took the
Chargers to the Super Bowl IN 1995.
