GRAPHIC=Fire Parker's Seafood in Roanoke will
probably be closed for a while after a
fire yesterday caused extensive smoke
damage.

The fire started shortly after 2
o'clock in the kitchen and spread to
the rest of the restuarant located on
Peters Creek Road.
Within 20 minutes, Roanoke Fire
E-M-S had it under control.
They are still investigating the
cause.
The restaurant is not open on
Sunday's and there were no injuries.

trying to solve the brutal murder of a
mentally challenged man...one year
after his death.

January 2006 Last January, police found Donald
:05 Sice dead on his apartment floor in Old
Southwest Roanoke.
Along with his body, authorities
reported a large amount of blood
scattered across the bedroom and not
far from the crime scene.....a hammer.
A small group of neighbors
gatherered in Highland Park this
weekend to mark the anniversary of
Seis's death.
They say they are eager for any
new leads on this old case.
Roanoke police are still
investigating but have not named any
suspects.

all over again for a Roanoke County
widow.

Last week, someone broke into
Jean Casey's house on South Barrens
Road.
The robbers not only took her
jewelry but they also stole a red
velvet container - and inside were her
husbands cremated ashes.
He died two years ago and now
Casey is distraught all over again.

for seniors.

There is a misconception that
everyone will need an H-D T-V when the
federally- mandated switch from analog
to digital- signal takes affect in
2009.
That is in fact, not true.
If you are able to receive a
cable or satellite signal from a
digital receiver now, then nothing will
change for you in the future.
The only folks effected by the
switch are those who receive stations,
like W-D-B-J, over the air on an analog
television.
For those looking to switch from
standard to high definition, the best
advice we can give you is to educate
yourself before you buy your new set.

open in Salem.

first restaurant in the Roanoke Valley
today at 10 A-M.
The first 12 people in line will
get a dozen mini hamburgers free every
week for an entire year.
These dedicated people have

and city police on a high speed car
chase yesterday.

Authorities say they tried to
stop the driver, because his tags were
expired.
But instead of stopping....the
driver, 18-year-old Barry Miles Junior
took off.
Miles eventually crashed his car
into the Countyside Estates Apartment
complex and escaped on foot.
You can see this created a stir
among some of the neighbors--
especially since the suspect tried to
hide out in the apartments.
Police managed to catch him and
charge him with obstruction and driving
on a revoked licenese.
No word on whether they caught
the passenger, who also took off on
foot.

Covington this weekend.

Around two yesterday morning,
they went out to an alley in the 100
block of North Wills Street after
reports of gunshots.
A man had been shot at least once
- he was rushed to Roanoke Memorial by
helicopter.
No word on his condition.
Also no arrest in this case.

remembered by friends, family and
collegues yesterday.

They gathered at Preston Oaks
Baptist Church to pay respects to
Warren Crawford.
He worked in the Roanoke City
School District for more than 30 years,
and most recently was the principal of
Monterey Elementary School.
Crawford is remembered as someone
who always put the students first.
He died last week after a
longterm illness.
He was 59-years-old.

"The Star City Cat Fanciers Cat
Show was held at the Holiday Inn on
Ordway Drive.
These owners are serious about
their cats.
Nearly 40 breeds were
recognized....from little ones to
hairless ones.
The Roanoke show was one of eight
held this weekend across the country.
On the international scene,
Tokyo, Japan and Austria also hosted
cats shows.
