seriously injured after a gas station
in explosion in Ghent West Virginia,
yesterday morning.

The Little General Store, near
Winterplace Ski Resort, was completely
leveled.
Rescue crews spent most of the
day searching through debris for other
victims and possible answers..
Investigators believe propane gas
leaked into the store but they do not
know what ignited it.

people heard it from up to three miles
away.
It knocked out two windows at

infant reportedly left in a dumpster
has been called off.

The Rockingham County sheriff's
office had spent the last two days
sifting through garbage at a
Harrisonburg-area landfill. The mother
gave birth Thursday in a dormitory
bathroom, reportedly placing her baby
in the trash.
Investigators say the 19-year-old
mother, who's identity is not being
revealed, has been cooperating with
authorities.
Though they've called off the
search, investigators say they are
still looking into the baby's death.

The clerk says the suspect walked
into the store, pulled out a gun,
demanded money, and fled with an
undisclosed amount of cash.

hear the case today involving former
Henry County Sheriff Frank Cassell and
former deputies accused of selling
drugs.
The judge will hear motions from
attorneys in Cassell's case -- as well
as the cases of two others.

Scam Alert 7 animation con-artists have scammed at least three
Roanoke businesses out of thousands of
dollars.
And...police believe these cases
are just the beginning.

We've obtained copies of some of
the counterfeit checks.
All of them appear to be from
legitimate construction companies.
Detectives say the suspects wear
construction clothes when they pass off
the phony checks.
So far, most of the victims have
been gas stations and mom and pop
grocery stores.
At least one store was taken for
about three thousand dollars.

lending industry in Virginia appear to
be dead.

Last Month Instead, a House committee has
passed a *reform* bill- similar to one
that's already passed out of the
Senate.
Borrowers would be limited to
three payday loans at a time and would
have to take a cooling off period in
between loans.
Folks with three outstanding
loans could also enter into extended
payment plans.

Yesterday, a House Committee sent
Delegate Morgan Griffith's bill to the
floor of the House of Delegates.
He offered the bill as an
alternative to Senator Brandon Bell's
bill that would outright ban smoking in
restaurants and most public places.
Griffith believes the sign
requirement will push more restaurants
to become smoke- free.
Health advocates argue the bill
won't protect employees working where
smoking is allowed.

refused another plea for bail from a
Clifton Forge teen.

VO-NAT 18-year-old Andrew Washburn is
accused of abducting a woman in Clifton
Forge and then reportedly raping her in
a remote area of Botetourt County.

packed the courtroom.
The judge declined Washburn's
request - because of the seriousness of
the allegations.
Washburn continues to claim he's
innocent and is awaiting DNA results to
clear his name.
He's due back in court on
February 21 for a preliminary hearing.
