search for the body of an infant
reportedly left in a dumpster.

The Rockingham County sheriff's
office had spent the last two days
sifting through garbage at a
Harrisonburg-area landfill.
The mother gave birth Thursday in
a dormitory bathroom, reportedly
placing her baby in the trash.
Investigators say the 19-year-old
mother, who's identity is not being
revealed, has been cooperating with
authorities.
Though they've called off the
search, investigators say they are
still looking into the baby's death.

Botetourt County Jail after a judge
refused another plea for bail.

accused of abducting a woman in Clifton
Forge and then reportedly raping her in
a remote area of Botetourt County.

packed the courtroom.
The judge declined Washburn's
request - because of the seriousness of
the allegations.
Washburn continues to claim he's
innocent, and is awaiting DNA results
to clear his name.
He's due back in court on

Roanoke businesses out of thousands of
dollars.
And...police believe these cases
are just the tip of the iceberg.

All of them appear to be from
legitimate construction companies.
Detectives say the suspects wear
construction clothes when they pass off

The answer yes. The Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries
has several guidelines however trappers
must follow.

The trap we aired yesterday had what's
called a rubber jaw and experts we
spoke with say because it's rubber,
it's a lot less painful than perhaps a
steel jaw.
(GFX 2) Also, viewers wanted to
know....
How is it that coyotes are
attracted to the trap and not for
instance a dog?
Again the Department of Game says
while there's no full proof way to keep
other animals out of the trap, there
are ways to make sure coyotes are more
attracted -

from the way the trap is planted
into the ground to spraying the area
near the trap with coyote urine. The
scent entices other coyotes.
While the state does not regulate
how many coyotes are trapped and killed
each year, officials say nearly six
thousand were killed by hunters in

reportedly left in a dumpster.

The Rockingham County sheriff's
office had spent the last two days
sifting through garbage at a
Harrisonburg-area landfill. The mother
gave birth Thursday in a dormitory
bathroom, reportedly placing her baby
in the trash.
Investigators say the 19-year-old
mother, who's identity is not being
revealed, has been cooperating with
authorities.
Though they've called off the
search, investigators say they are
still looking into the baby's death.

over the last five years.
The group, Swing Roanoke, hopes
to continue that trend drawing plenty
of dancers to the "Big Lick Boogie."

Leading up to the dance,
workshops will be offered during the
day on Saturday.
The instructors will be coming in
from Hollywood.
The event's organizers say the
dance and the lessons are a great
learning experience and a good time for

Admission for the dance-itself is
15-dollars.
The music will be provided by the
Boilmaker Jazz Band from Pittsburgh.

Now here's a look at today's top local
stories.
The case involving former Henry
County Sheriff Frank Cassell and former
deputies accused in a scheme to sell
drugs is before a federal judge in
Roanoke today.
The judge will hear motions from
attorneys in Cassell's case -- as well
as the cases of two others.

ENG#1 Today fire officials will return
to the scene of a deadly explosion at a
gas station in Ghent, West Virginia.
Four people were killed
yesterday and five others were
seriously injured. Investigators
believe propane gas leaked into the
store but they do not know what ignited
it.

And, the staff at Mill Mountain Zoo is
making some changes. They include two
new exhibits, with children in mind.
The exhibits should be completed by the
spring.
Also, widlife guru Jack Hannah is
coming to town in March to help raise
money for the zoo.
