This Morning On the inside, the staples that
seemingly everyone buys before the
storm, bread and milk, have become a
cliche'.
But like all cliches' they are rooted
in the truth.
The Kroger store we stopped in this
morning was running low on both.
Like the post office, delivery folks
have to go out in the elements either
way.
The ones we spoke with are happy the
snow never came to the valley.

A classified report delivered to the
White House paints a bleak picture
of the situation in Iraq. According to
the Washington Post the latest
National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq
concludes the U-S has little
control over what is happening there
and further deterioration is
possible.
A brief summary of the report will be
made public today..
It comes with the Senate poised for a
test vote Monday against President
Bushs troop build-up. Republicans and
Democrats are lining up behind
the compromise measure put together by
Senators John Warner and Carl
Levin.
Their non-binding resolution lost the
support of two Democrats.. one
says stronger language is needed to
make an impact at the White House.
(Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT))
DODD 13:41:53 why not force them to pay
some attention to what we say up
here this is the united states senate
this is not a city council
somewhere, we do have an effect on
policy
Meanwhile, Republicans John McCain and
Lindsey Graham are moving ahead
with a rival resolution supporting the
troop surge.
(Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC))
GRAHAM 16:18:48 were going to pick up
the paper if the Warner/Levin
resolution passes and the only thing
that is going to be read by our
enemys is congress disapproves of
surge- Baghdad lost
Both parties gave the former top
commander in Iraq a grilling at his
confirmation hearing for the top job in
the Army. General George Casey
told the panel he did not want all the
additional the President is
sending, although he supports the
presidents plan
CLOSE: President Bush is meeting with
GOP Senators today.. the White
House is hoping to steer Republican
lawmakers away from a vote opposing
the troop increase. Susan Roberts, News

Police said yesterday they tried to
pull over 41-year-old Timothy Michael
Vest of Altavista for reckless driving,
but he took off.
More than a dozen officers were
involved in the pursuit which ended on
Chambers Street around 3:30.
They had to pepper spray Vest to
get him out of the car. He's facing
multiple charges, including attempting
to elude police, as a habitual
offender.
His passenger ... 34-year-old
Michael Lee Creasy ... is charged with
hindering police.
