Police say the car belonged to
the family of one of two missing
Maryland teenagers.
16 year old Rachel Smith and 18 year
old Rachel Crites were last seen two
weeks ago after they told their parents
they were going to a movie.
Investigators say they have no evidence
of foul play. Crites did leave behind a
dairy entry that read, "wherever I end
up laying whether buried or cremated, I
want to stay with my one true love next
to her. This is my choice, I'm sorry."
At this point, authorities have not

include more funding for the flood
control project on the Roanoke River.
Congressman Bob Goodlatte says he was
informed the amount will be around 10
million dollars, a 2 million dollar
increase over last year's budget. The
Roanoke Flood Control Project includes
channel widening through Roanoke City
and construction of a greenway along
the river.
Goodlatte says this will ultimately
protect lives and property - that's why
he's pushed to get more funding to move
forward with the project.

The Senate Finance Committee has
defeated the transportation package
crafted by Republicans in both houses.
Instead, the powerful committee
is endorsing plans to impose a five-
percent sales tax on gasoline.
The tax would be placed on the
average price of gas over a six- month
period.
Supporters like the plan because
it forces out of state drivers to help
pay for the roads they use.
House Republicans have warned a
statewide tax increase is a deal
breaker, but some believe upcoming
elections will help force another
compromise.

ENG#=2 VO-NAT
VO-NAT The vote yesterday was 74-to-22.
The bill now goes to the Senate,
where legislation to ban smoking in
restaurants and virtually all other
indoor public places awaits a final
vote early next week.
The House bill -- sponsored by
Majority Leader Morgan Griffith of
Salem -- would eliminate the legal
requirement that restaurants provide
no-smoking sections.
Griffith says he believes most
restaurant owners will decide on their
own that they would rather go
smoke-free, adding no-smoking areas in
most restaurants are largely
ineffective anyways.

Hargrove caused a stir when he recently

Delegate Ware says he's received

Ware is inviting every delegate

facing charges of neglect.
