Firefighters say it looks like a
kitchen fire is what forced dozens of
people out into the cold tonight.

It happened in the 53-hundred
block of Hawthorne road at Hawthorne
Towers.
Residents at the apartment
complex had to stand outside while fire
crews made sure the building was safe.
Apparently, there was water
damage to 12 rooms -- and fire and
smoke damage to one room
Residents from four of those
apartments have been displaced, but
they'll be staying with friends in the
complex.
Authorities say the fire started
from cooking oil left on a stove.

County Sheriff Frank Cassell's request
to move his federal trial out of
Roanoke.

VO-NAT Last week, Cassell's lawyers
asked for a change of venue, saying
that the large amount of news coverage
could prejudice potential jurors.
But in a ruling filed
today, Judge James Turk said althought
there has been a significant amount of
media coverage, it has not created the
extreme circumstances that warrant a
move.
Cassell's trial on money
laundering and obstruction of justice
charges is scheduled for June.

Tran owns the Sky Nails Salon in
Christiansburg. Back in April, a woman,
her 12 year old daughter and a 12 year
old friend say Tran inappropriately
touched them before closing. One of the
girls testified he massaged her legs up
to her private parts. Tran does have
two prior convictions of sexual battery
from an incident in a Pulaski County
nail salon.
But the jury sided with the defense,
after several clients testified the
store was too open and it would not be
possible for Tran to have molested the
girls. Two people even testified Tran
was not even in the store that night.

family member.

Street and Rugby Boulevard.
Tonight folks prayed, read poems,
and sang. This is the second year in a
row the vigil's been held.

killing her and was sentenced last year
to life in prison plus 25 years.

bank with a piece of plastic.

Automatic Teller Machine at Tanglewood
Mall.

reviewing their joint account on line
the day after her wallet was stolen.

return the call, the thief was at
Roanoke College using the Wachovia ATM
to make two more withdrawals- -first,
one for $400. Two minutes later-
-another $100. Less than half an hour
later, yet another $100 withdrawal was
made from the ATM at Hollins College...
all adding up to $1200 over two days,
plus transaction fees of another $20.
Member One said the loss would
"probably not be covered."

football coaching vacancies in
southwest Virginia has been filled.
Radford high school has hired
Matt Saunders to take over for the
retiring Norm Lineburg.
Appropriately, Saunders is a Radford
native, a Radford high school graduate,
a Radford University graduate and one
of Coach Lineburg's former players.
Matt Saunders also is the younger
brother of former William Campbell and
J.J. Kelly head coach Kevin Saunders.
Matt, most recently coached in
the Charlotte area and also has been a
head coach at Castlewood.
Upon his return - Matt Saunders
will find the Three Rivers to be every
bit as tough as the old New River was
during his playing days. Radford
hasn't been to the playoffs since 2003.

The Beatles' Apple company have put
aside differences on the use of the
name as well as logos.
A judge last year found Apple
Computer was entitled to use the apple
logo on the iTunes Music Store.
The guardian of the Beatles'
commercial interest had charged that
the company's use of the logo on iTunes
broke their 1991 agreement.
There's no word on whether iTunes
will start selling Beatles' music.
