A home leveled, a family destroyed and
lives lost because of a fire that could
have been prevented.
This one happened last week in Rocky
Mount - investigators believe it was
caused by a faulty kerosene heater.

Local fire officials warn kerosene
heaters puts out Carbon Monoxide which
can be deadly, so it's important to
have a well-ventilated area...
The danger is less extreme with
Propane, but this type of heat should
also be monitored and used in
moderation.
As for electric space heaters, they
don't produce carbon monoxide, but even
if a model advertises an automatic shut
off - none should be left unattended.

warning of a rabid cat that attacked a
woman in Roanoke.

It happened Friday on
Morwanda Street, Northwest, near the
Roanoke-Salem line.
The health department says
the black and white cat was captured
and euthanized.
The woman it attacked is now
being treated for rabies.
Anyone who may have come in

Six men and six women
deliberated for about an hour and a
half before finding Tran not guilty of

truck carrying propane tanks was headed
north near Oakville when it ran off the
right side of the road, overcorrected
and then overturned.
The driver was trapped in the
truck's cab for about twenty minutes
... he's been identified as 31-year-old
Claud Duane Crowe of Salem.
Crowe is listed in critical
condition in the neurological I-C-U at
Lynchburg General Hospital.

Boston area.
