to finally see some significant snow.

It has caused a lot of problems on
the roads. We saw a number of
accidents, in fact we almost completely
spun out ourselves.

Therefore, crews will be busy well

It's a busy night for plowers as they
try their best to keep the roads clear.

The snow accumalated quickly and
while it was nuisance to many, others
say it's a pleasant surprise.

were heading home from work. (TOWERS

By six o'clock, the snow was coming
down at a steady pace here in Franklin
County. (shot at 5:25:17 and then
5:31:54))

It didn't take long for the snow to
pile up on Route 220 near Boones Mill.

When we hit Roanoke, we found nearly
an inch of snow on the ground (shot
driving around 5:37:40)

That made driving treacherous on
secondary roads throughout the city and
even the main ones like 581.

roads even before the first snow flake
hit the ground.

But with the snow falling so quickly
it is hard for state and city crews to
keep up.

but many kids hope it will still be bad
enough by morning, prompting school to
cancel for the day.

Yes Justin....road conditions
were clearly a major factor in a
vehicle flipping over a hillside in
Giles County.

Whether you think your fellow
drivers are in control behind the wheel
or not...this accident along 460 in
Giles County is a scary reminder of
what can happen to any driver.

Three people were in this van
when police say the driver lost
control.

The vehicle flipped over a guard
rail and down a steep hill.

First responeders said it was a
difficult rescue.

Roanoke Regional Airport -- especially

out the units in building 3040.....

Firefighters were called to the Roanoke
County complex....but they didn't find
fire.. .instead a lot of water.

Investigators say a roof hatch was
left open causing the sprinkler system
pipes in the attic to freeze and
rupture and in turn, that activated the
sprinkler system.

than Roanoke's own J.R. Reynolds.

The senior guard had 13 points in

Reynolds and company appeared to

Maryland put on a furious rally and got
