and it's causing a lot of debate across
the state.

five when they travel in a vehicle.

A proposed bill would up the age to
their 8th birthday.

Supporters say even grade school
children can be seriously injured or
killed in a traffic crash if they are

indoor- smoking- ban.

Last Month The committee simply took no
action on Senator Brandon Bell's bill
that bans smoking in restaurants and
most indoor public places.

The House has already passed
Delegate Morgan Griffith's bill that
requires restaurant owners to post
signs warning customers if they allow
smoking.

Tonight's five- member panel
suggested Bell try to work something
out with Griffith, but the Roanoke
County senator says he doubts there's
enough time left in the session.

Even if it doesn't happen this
year, Bell says he believes momentum is
on his side.

Guard learned this week that he
would get his job back, after the
Department of Social Services reversed
itself and ruled that a complaint
against him was unfounded.

The principal was placed on
administrative leave last November
after a parent complained he had used
inappropriate discipline with her
autistic son.

to his defense, and today he thanked
the community for what he described as
"amazing support."

January 24, 2007 News Seven was the first to tell :17 you about the lost Giant Schnauzer,
Hope.

A few weeks ago, 80-year-old Jean
Angle was coming home to Roanoke from
picking up the dog at a New York rescue
shelter, when she wrecked along
Interstate 81 near the Buchanan exit...
Hope disappeared in all of the chaos.

Jean spent the next two weeks
canvassing the area and found out a
trucker picked Hope up....But the
company wouldn't release the woman
driver's information.

That's when law enforcement
in Botetourt Couny got involved.. they

traced the dog to Florida and today,
Jean was reunited with Hope.

by Liz Claiborne....cell phones and the
internet are making emotional abuse
more common among teens who are dating.

In a new survey.....one in four
teens in a relationship say their
boyfriend or girlfriend has text
messaged them at least hourly...between
midnight and five a-m.

Even more say a partner has text
messaged them ten, twenty...up to
thirty times per hour to find out where
they are and who they're with.

The scariest part...almost half
say their cell phones or
computers....making abuse easier to
hide from their parents.
