The fire broke out on the left side of
the building around 2-30. When
firefighters arrived, they found light
smoke coming from the building.

Fortunately, the Cave SPring Volunteer
fire department is right next door, so
they responded quickly to get the
flames under control.

As for the children, they evacuated to
the playground and were then
transported by bus to the fire station.
That is where they are being kept until
their parents come to pick them up.

20- year old Zach Linkous was a
teenager when he says he accidentally
shot 15 year old Edward Bertrand with a
hand gun.

Linkous says he got the gun from
a friend, hoping to sell it and make
some money.

The judge sentenced him to 13
years for voluntary manslaughter, but

suspended 8 years.

Linkous will get credit for time
served, so he will only spend a little
more than 2 years in jail before
getting out.

Doctors say the best thing to do

ANIMATION major league pitchers and catchers will
report to spring training.

That being said, the General

Assembly made sure it didn't wait too
long to honor to pride of Ferrum this
week - none other than Billy Wagner.

The Tazewell County naitve was
commended not so much for his
outstanding big league career, but more
so for his work back in his home
county.

Wagner has helped establish and
support the Second Chance Learning
Center located in Bluefield. The
facility provides counseling and
academic support for children facing
difficult circumstances - much like
Wagner did growing up in Tannersville.

Usachev says he met her while training
in Houston - and says it shows
astronauts are human and make mistakes.

As for future space travel.. Usachev
predicts men will go to Mars.
