piece together evidence from a deadly
fire in Bedford County.

Family members have identified
the victims as 29 year-old Sharon Ayers
and her two daughters.

11 year-old Ashley Howell and 4
year-old Jennifer Ayers.

The fire started shortly after 5

sister, Sharon Ayers' voice again.

members are still in disbelief tonight
following the chain of events that have
taken place over the past two days.

They first learned something was
wrong when a neighbor called Wednesday
night to say the house was on fire


When they arrived on the scene,
they prayed the family was not trapped
inside.

That hope quickly diminshed as
they watched the home collapse.

This tragedy has devastated their
family.

They say all three will truly be
missed.

And tonight, they remember Sharon
Ayers as a good mother.

in the home about 8 years but were
looking to buy a home within the next 6
months.

However, at this point, family
members are planning their funeral.

principal of Huddleston Elementary
where the girls attended.

He says there will be a memorial
plaque of the two children placed at
the school.

homeless in Roanoke County also gave
firefighters a tough time.

Crews were called to 3400 block
of Harborwood Road for a structure fire
around 10:30 this morning.

Not only was live ammunition
going off inside the house, a car
blocked the icy driveway and crews had
to find another way up.

The mother and son who shared the
home suffered no injuries, but the
house was a total loss. The cause of
the fire is still unknown

Police arrested the son, Frank
Miller for an outstanding warrant,
though police say the arrest had
nothing to do with the fire.

A Christiansburg man, who was a
teen when he shot and killed a 15 year
old, will spend five years in prison.

The judge sentenced 20-year old
Zachary Linkous to 13 years today, but
suspended eight.

Linkous also gets credit for time
served, so he will only remain in jail
for another couple of years for killing
Edward Bertrand.

Bertrand's family was not happy
with the sentence.

acquitted in Ohio.

verdict this afternoon.

The facts were never in dispute.

A female student confided in
O'Toole that she'd been sexually
assaulted at the small Catholic College
in South Euclid, Ohio were OToole used
to work.

The girl asked O'Toole not to
report it to police, and she didn't.

The D-A filed criminal charges,
contending that five subsequent
assaults could have been prevented if
Dean O'Toole had reported the first
attack.
