bill, he brushed it aside thinking the
extra came from running Christmas
lights for the holidays.

But after getting his most recent
bill, once again he was met with an

Around 10:30, a Roanoke City salt
truck was stopped in the tunnel doing
maintenance when a pick-up collided
with it.

Police closed the north bound
lane of the tunnel until about 2:00.

Emergency crews took the driver
of the pick-up to the hospital.

Police have not released her
identity and we do not know her
condition.

No charges have been filed but
the accident is under investigation.

attacks happened in the same
neighborhood. They are is focusing on
Morwanda Street, near the Roanoke-Salem
line in Northwest Roanoke.

Officials say anyone who had contact
with a black and white cat in that area
to get in touch with the health
department, or their doctor
immediately.

The health department is reminding the
public to avoid wild animals and to
make sure their pets are vaccinated.

In other news, The L-O-A Area
Agency on Aging is giving out heaters
and paying the heating bills for some
low-income seniors, thanks to a
50-thousand dollar grant from the
Foundation for the Roanoke Valley.

banquet, but soon fans will have a
chance to actually check out some of
the hall of fame material year round.
The local hall's new facility located
next to Salem Memorial Stadium hopes to
open this spring by the first of May.

This year's class of four
inductees includes Ken Macha - most
recently the Manager of the Oakland
A's. Macha was a catcher with the old
Salem Pirates and played on the 1972
championship team.

have been valuable resources in their
respective communities. Charlie
Hammersley took care of Salem's parks
and rec department for 30 years, Wally
Beagle has run the Commonwealth Games

baseball competition for a decade and
Elbert Powell has given over 40 years
of his life to the betterment of
baseball in Franklin County.

Frank Howard.

Hondo - hit over 400 homers and
