We shot this video earlier
tonight off of Interstate 81 in
Fairfield. As you can see, we saw
plenty of ice in the grass, on signs,
and in the trees.

It is so cold out we actually
found ice forming on flags.

As for the roads, we saw a fleet
of V-DOT trucks out tonight putting
down abrasives on the roads.

For the most part, it seems to be
working.

It also helps that a lot of
drivers are choosing to stay off the
roads.

to blame for a twenty five car pileup
that shut down a stretch of interstate
64 in Afton Mountain today...

a snowplow, a baked goods delivery
truck and some cars.

A few people were taken to the
hospital...but the extent of their
injuries are unknown.

experiencing bad
weather.....Louisiana's Governor has
issued a disaster declaration after a
tornado tore through a New Orleans
suburb....

twister hop scotched a ten mile path,
striking some neighborhoods that had
been hard hit by Hurricane Katrina.

One person killed was on the
verge of moving back into her repaired

crediting a quick thinking off duty
officer for helping to end a shooting
rampage at a Salt Lake City mall.

night...an eighteen year old gunman
opened fire killing five people before
being shot by police.

Four other people were injured in
the incident.

Detectives are trying to
determine a motive.

blood on a pair of shoes provided the
one forensic link between murder
suspect James Andrew Morrell and his
two alleged victims

Beach, Florida five days after the
double homicide in Roanoke.

Investigators found a spot that
matched Brenda Wright's D-N-A profile
on the sneakers Morrell was wearing.

killed LAST February at Tinker Creek
Manor Apartments.

The defense argued detectives
failed to properly preserve the shoes

from contamination but the judge did

Tech students need money
fast.....that's because the student-run
radio station is having trouble
broadcasting.

problem since December.

Before winter break anyone in the
New River Valley could pick up the
station.

After students returned,
listeners could only tune in from
Blacksburg and Christiansburg.

Engineers say the problem is
definitely the transmitter...also known
as "Harriet."

Her full power is three
kilowatts, but she's only functioning
at about 150 watts now.

Students have launched a radio
emergency campaign to raise 9-thousand
dollars to repay a loan from the
educational media company at Virginia
Tech for repairs.

A month ago tonight - the
Virginia Tech Hokies turned Blacksburg
and the ACC upside down as they beat
number one ranked North Carolina at
Cassell Coliseum.

Raycom-Lincoln Financial Tonight, the two teams met in :00 Chapel Hill in the rematch - as the
Hokies made their first ever appearance

inside the Dean Dome.

And despite the rabid Tarheel
fans who were anxious to get some
revenge - the Hokies handled themselves
well in the opening half as Jamon
Gordon and Zabian Dowdell - the senior
guards helped Tech take an 8 point
lead.

But Carolina would go on a
21-to-9 run in the closing nine minutes
of the half, and by the time we hit
intermission the Hokies were down
34-to-30.

The Tarheels were able to
maintain that lead thanks to freshman
guard Ty Lawson - who was all over the
place in the second half, but Tech was
still right in the game with 7 minutes
to play - down just five.

Dowdell and company would not go
away. Zabe finished with 27 points and
by the 2:30 mark the Hokies were back
on top 72-to-71.

All three Evernhan Dodges were
busted and penalized and will now have
to start in the back for Thursday's 125
mile qualifying races.

will open in Tanglewood Mall on the
main level in the fall.

It's a 1950's style restaurant
that specializes in you might have

It's also famous for its pounder
burger- eat it all and you get your
name on the wall of fame.

The chain already has 50 restaurants

proposal will include a small hotel and
conference center that would resemble
the old Rockledge Inn.

The Mill Mountain Playhouse
