night trying to restore power in Floyd
County.

We understand Appalachian Power has
brought in 60 additional crews from
outside the area to assist in the
massive effort.

According to the company, there are
nearly a hundred different outages
throughout the area and getting to the
trouble spots has been a huge headache.

That was the judge's verdict this
afternoon in the case of James Andrew
Morrell moe-RELL.

murder and attempted robbery of two
women a year ago at Tinker Creek Manor
Apartments.

Two others pled no contest. One
of them testified against Morrell
saying the group sat and smoked crack
with Debbie Vaughn and Brenda Wright
before stabbing them to death.

Paul Goode and Jeremy Carter face
no more than 33 years in prison for
their cooperation.

Morrell will be sentenced in
April.

Palace-aides in Giles County worry some
residents.

Peggy and Brian Smith own 200
acres behind the landmark.

They want to rezone the land to
build about 25 single family homes and
cottages.

The Smiths say 70 percent of the

what a project like this would do to
the New River.

The Giles County Board of
Supervisors will hold a public hearing
on the plan tomorrow night.

throughout the region, the high school
district basketball tournaments got
cranking tonight, and it took all of
one game at the Salem Civic Center to
produce a big upset.

Blacksburg Bruins lost twice to regular
season champ Hidden Valley, but tonight
was a completely different story for
Doug Day's team.

Six-Four sophomore Harland Brown
gets out in transition and throws one

efforts like this one from T.C. Bane on

the inside weren't enough to slow down
the Burg.
