This time, it's a Marine from
Rockbridge county.

Morris of Raphine (ray-feen) was killed
Wednesday.

It happened during combat
operations in the Al Anbar Al-Anne-bar
Province.
His family told us by phone, the
19 year old apparently died after a
bomb exploded at a security check
point.

Daniel had been in Iraq since
September, he was due to return home to
Rockbridge County next month.

GRAPHIC=FATAL SHOOTING A Martinsville family is mourning
the death of a teenager, who was killed
in a shooting.

It happened Wednesday afternoon
at this home on Stultz Road in
Martinsville.
Family members tell us two
teenage brothers were home messing
around when a gun fell off the bed
killing 16 year-old Robin Joyce,
Junior.
Police say he had a single gun
shot wound to his chest.
They're waiting on a final report
from the medical examiner before
concluding their investigation.
Nevertheless, this tragedy has
devastated the family.

Bailey and her mother, Susan
Anderson, were arrested after going to
his aid.

community service.
The family says they're glad to

is having an effect close to home.
A local family says their son got
sick after recently eating a peanut
butter and jelly sandwhich.

be getting more financial help.

degree and they often can't afford to
go to a four year college or
university.
So a bill that has passed the Senate
would allow those students to transfer
to a four year public school in
Virginia but only pay the tuition of a
community college.

Roanoke residents to secure their homes
and report any suspicious activity.

This warning, comes after a
couple of burglaries in the Woodland
Hills neighborhood.
They happened over the past week
during the overnight hours.
Police say no one was at home
during any of the burglaries.
But the thieves got away with
digital cameras, laptops and jewelry.
Police believe the crimes are
connected and think the suspects are
familiar with the area.
Anyone with information should
call the police.

students to cut class.

High School principals trained on the
new system.
It's meant to help keep students

General Assembly is moving forward with
plans to ban teens from talking on cell
phones while driving.

A unanimous vote in the House
Transportation Committee yesterday sent
the bill to the House floor.
It's already passed in the
Senate.
The bill bans teens with
provisional driver's licenses from
talking on the phone while driving.
Even in an emergency they'd be
required to pull over before dialing.
The senator sponsoring the bill
now worries the House will try to amend
it to allow hands- free devices....
something he believes would "gut" the
bill.
