Another person has been shot by a
Roanoke city police officer.

This is the second time a police
officer has been involved in a shooting
this weekend.

Officers were called just after
two this morning to a residence in the
1700 block of Carroll Avenue.

The call was regarding a man with
a firearm.

Three officers located the
subject in a bedroom of the residence.

He fired at one of the officers
when they entered the bedroom.

That officer returned fire
striking the suspect.

The suspect went into another
room and fired another shot.

Officers found the subject in the
room with another juvenile who had been
shot.

Officers took the juvenile and
the suspect to Carilion Roanoke

Memorial Hospital.

All three officers are on leave.

None of the identities are being
released.

has been sent to the hospital after a
fire in Roanoke this morning.

Crews responded to a structure
fire in the 600-block of Centre Avenue
shortly before three o'clock.

Investigators remained on the
scene until around six, but there is no
word yet on the cause.

One person was sent to the
hospital for burns.

Police have not released the
identity of the victims.

their septic tank.

At a home nearby, a driveway has

Officers are on administrative leave
this morning following another shooting
overnight.

Officers were called to the 1700
block of Carroll Avenue around 2:00
a.m. regarding a man with a firearm.

When officers arrived a 10
year-old let them in the house and
informed them the man was upstairs.

When they located him, he pulled
out a gun and fired at one of the
officers.

That officer returned fire
striking the suspect.

All three officers retreated down
the hallway.

The man then ran tino another
room and fired a single shot.

Another adult in the home told
the officers that there was a child
upstairs.

Two officers went back upstairs
and located a 7 year-old who had been
shot

Both the child and man were taken
to the hospital.

Their names have not been
released and their conditions are not
known.

GRAPHIC=Shooting Roanoke Police have identified

the officer involved in a Friday night
shooting.

His name is Andrew Pulley, Jr.

and he's under investigation for a
fatal shooting on King Street in the
Northeast part of the city.

News 7's Aleesha Chaney spoke
with neighbors and has this report.

A Roanoke officer returns

Saturday afternoon to survey a home at
the center of a police shooting.

The incident began when police
arrived at the residence to serve
papers Friday night.

evacuate the area, he heard gunfire.

That exchange was between law
enforcement and 30 year-old Geoffrey
Aaron Stephenson.

to the hospital where he later died.

This chain of events has
surprised neighbors who call it a quiet
community.

They say they've never noticed
any unusual activity at the home.

word yet on the cause.

by his squad- has been sentenced to
eight years in a military prison.

Pennington showed no emotion as he was
handed the longest sentence yet in the
murder investigation.

Pennington claimed he never fired
a shot.

During his sentencing at the Camp
Pendleton in San Diego - Pennington was
reduced in rank and given a
dishonorable discharge.

Pennington was part of an
eight-member squad accused of
kidnapping and murdering a 52-year-old
man last April.

yesterday to protest the war in Iraq.

Protesters organized by a group

called the "Troops Out Now Coalition"
gathered in Times Square, but also
marched to the offices of New York
Senators Hillary Clinton and Charles
Schumer to urge them to vote against
funding for US military involvement in
Iraq.

The protest was scheduled to
coincide with similar protests across
the nation in Los Angeles, Detroit,
Boston, Raleigh, Chicago, and
Philadelphia.

A petition is also being
circulated online to urge Congress to
vote against more funding.

A bigger rally has been planned
for March 17 in Washington D.C.
