he says anti-depressants made him do it

VO-NAT Rodney Startz was in court today

to try and take back his guilty plea to
the first degree murder of
ex-girlfriend Donna Angelo.

Police say Startz walked into the
Fairlawn Walmart last year and shot her
in the head.

He now says he stopped taking the
drug Lexapro, shortly before the
shooting and the side effects are what
drove him to murder.

Startz says new studies he found
on line about anti-depressants made him
want to change his plea.

arrested one person they think's
resonible for several break-ins and
church vandalism.

18-year-old Eric Hale was taken
into custody after several homes and a
church were broken into early this
morning in the Figsboro area of the
county.

Vehicles were also tampered with,
and some coins were stolen from a car.

Hale's being held in the Henry

side-swiped several cars in his path.

The S-U-V traveled only a couple

of blocks before slamming into a car at
an intersection.

Two of the three suspects were

submerged car out of a canal

The white sedan was found
underwater in the canal around noon
today.

neighborhood for a short time this
morning as fire trucks rushed to an
apartment fire.

battle heavy smoke more than anything.

At least six apartments were
located inside this building - on the
corner of Academy and Clay Streets.

Fire investigators say a gas
water heater ignited the fire causing
at least 150 thousand dollars worth of

safely.

Red Cross is helping out with
temporary housing.

Salem Civic Center tomorrow as both the
men's and women's teams play their
postseason tournaments.

they will see what is virtually a brand
new Civic Center arena.

A new hardwood playing service
was installed this week, and there are
brand new backboards in place, as well.

The facelift to the basketball
faciilities also includes new three
sided shot clocks that will get their
first use tomorrow.

In the last few months, Salem
also has installed new scoreboards,
finished up the replacement of all of
the seating in the arena, and probably
most notably, they installed new blue

successful AAU girls programs in the
state. But when Ferrum College offered
him the chance to coach at the college
level - Bryan Harvey jumped at the
opportunity.

With one if his former players on
one side and his wife Karen on other
helping him coach - Ferrum has managed
to win the highly competitive USA South
regular season title this year in just
Harvey's second year on the bench.
Heading into Friday night's tournament
semi-finals - the Panthers are 20 and 6
on the season.

The close knit staff has won with
the help of a lot of local talent -
former high school players from the
area who now call Ferrum home.

One of the keys to securing those
local players - is Williams. She's
still young enough to relate directly
to the recruits - plus she's one of
only a handful of players to ever play
at both Virginia Tech and Roanoke

College.

She's been there and the Harveys

ground on a new home in the Ferrum area
- they plan to raise their three kids
here and keep building the Panthers'
