drove him to murder.

with "brandishing a firearm" and
"following too close."

disconnected. And his attorney
declined comment, until the case comes

Roads are transported by rail to Front

There, a straddle carrier, or
"strad" for short, picks them up, puts
them on chassis, and sends them out

Port opened, Warren County officials
say the facility has been a good
neighbor. Complaints have been few. In
fact, an upscale housing development is
going in across the highway.
And the facility has undeniably

has been a big success, but that may
come as little comfort to residents of
western Virginia who are concerned
about the location of the new
intermodal facility.

A key difference... the inland
port is located in an area that was
identified for industrial development
as early as the mid-70s... so unlike
Elliston, it's a corridor where the
development has been expected, and
encouraged.

neighborhood for a short time this
morning as fire trucks rushed to an
apartment fire.

Firefighters had to battle heavy
smoke more than anything.
At least six apartments were
located inside the building at the
corner of Academy and Clay Streets.
Fire investigators say a gas
water heater ignited the fire, causing
at least 150 thousand dollars worth of
damage.
All of the tenants got out
safely.
The Red Cross is helping out with
temporary housing.

Conference begins a four day run at the
Salem Civic Center tomorrow as both the
men's and women's teams invade the
house that Harveycutter Built.
This marks the first time since
1994 that the men's and women's events
have been held in the same weekend.

tomorrow they will see what is
virtually a brand new Civic Center
arena.
A new hardwood playing service
was installed this week, and there are
brand new backboards in place, as well.
The facelift to the basketball
support faciilities also includes new
three sided shot clocks that will get
their first use tomorrow.
In the last few months, Salem
also has installed new scoreboards,
finished up the replacement of all of
the seating in the arena, and probably
most notably, they installed new blue
acoustic treatments - replacing the old
brown foam. The Men's tourney opens
tomorrow afternoon at one with
defending national champ Virginia
Wesleyan taking on Washington & Lee.
