Roanoke County busy tonight after a
brush fire broke out in the Clearbrook
area.

scene all night. Justin what's the
situation at this hour?

Natasha, the fire is 100-percent
contained.

high winds remain a concern so fire
crews will stay on the scene throughout
the night.

The brush fire broke out just after
six o'clock on Crowell Gap Road just
off of Route 220.

Investigators believe a tree falling

on a power line is what sparked the
fire.

When crews arrived, the flames were
rapidly spreading up a hill,
endangering two nearby homes.

In fact, we're told the fire came
within 50 yards one of the homes.

Luckily, firefighters were able to
keep the flames at bay.

To give you an idea just how bad this
fire was, at one point we're told the
flames were shooting twenty feet in the
air, and that's all because of the
wind.

run in Carroll County, a 77 year old
man has taken responsibility.

reckless driving this afternoon.

Prosecutors say he hit and killed
George Dalton on a stretch of Route 52
back in 1953.

Brady says he never knew exactly
what happened that night, but thought
he should clear his conscience just
before having open heart surgery.

Several of Dalton's family
members said they didn't want Brady to

the vehicle he was in was struck by an

Washburn is accused of taking a woman
from Clifton Forge and raping her in a
remote section of Botetourt County last
month.

DNA results released yesterday
failed to exclude him as a suspect. The
report also indicated the chance of
someone else having the same DNA is one
in more than six billion.

Radford University Professor Tod
Burke hasn't reviewed evidence in the
Washburn case, but says DNA results can
help prosecutors prepare a convincing
case.

closer to getting help cleaning up it's
sewer problems.

This Month Today, the Senate followed
yesterday's House action - passing a
bill that sets up a Controlled- Sewer
Overflow Fund.

Lynchburg and Richmond are the
only two cities in the Commonwealth
with a C-S-O system.

If the governor signs the bill,
they'll receive two- and a half million
dollars a year from the Water Quality
Improvement Fund-- and could receive
even more in times of a surplus.

Today's vote was close as some
fear the fund takes money from other
worthy projects, but Senator Steve
Newman assured lawmakers it would be
money well spent.

agreed to prohibit smoking in

at the age of 52.

When Johnson came through Roanoke
