GRAPHIC=None A controversial X-ray machine aimed
at detecting weapons and explosives
hidden on passengers debuted Friday at
Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
ENG#=2 VO-NAT

*CG locator Phoenix, AZ
It's called the "Backscatter" and it's
controversial because some see it as a
violation of privacy because it can see
through passengers's clothes.
The T-S-A is testing the machine for
sixty days.
Authorities say they are able to blur
people's private areas and still be
able to detect other hidden threats.
Many people feel awkward about the full
body scans but the TSA says people will
quickly become comfortable with the new
system.
