and forth but this weekend the the
state legislature has passed a final
resolution hoping to settle the slavery
issue once and for all.

VO-NAT In the final version of the
resolution, it acknowledges profound
regret for the involuntary servitude of
Africans and the exploitation of Native
Americans.

reconciliation among all Virginians.
That's different from the first
version which called for atonement for
slavery.
Some lawmakers feared issuing
atonement would be the first step
towards reparations.
The resolution passed unanimously
in the House.

says a brush fire that started Thursday

a suspect considered to be armed and
dangerous.
Around two this morning officers
responded to a call from Eli's
restaurant on Ridge Street.
There, they found Jennings
Darnell Tucker of Danville shot in the
chest.
He's at Duke University Medical
center in critical condition.

costs of classes.

Fleming and Hidden Valley.
Both teams earned their way into
the state tournament last night, and
tonight they squared off on the same
Northside high school hardwood.

Titans vs. Colonels The Hidden Valley students broke
:00 out the war paint tonight hoping to
cheer the Titans to a Regional Title.
Fleming, meanwhile, circled the
wagons in pregame warmups hoping to get
their second win of the season over the
Titans.
But the first half was a ragged
affair with 25 fouls including this
technical on Colonels' coach Mickey
Hardy.
Hidden Valley's Ben Boggs went to
the free throw line 20 times in the
first half alone as the Titans led at
the halftime break 36 to22.
Fleming's shot poorly from the
outside all night long, but was still
able to hang around in the thanks to
the inside play of Jamelle Hagins.
But the Titans just blew the game
wide open in the second half as

William Fleming Region Three title 64 to 49.

Magna Vista met at Bassett, marking the
5th meeting between the two this
season. Each team had won twice
entering tonight.

Warriors vs. Bulldogs The Bulldogs and Warriors met on

weekend.
Magna Vista took control in the
first quarter. Dennis Gravely sticks a
trifecta deep in the corner and it was
13 to 5 Warriors.
DeAndrew Jackson then stepped
up for the Dawgs and knocked down a
three to answer for the Ville.
Jonathan Williams carried the
Warriors tonight. He follows his own
shot.

45 45-42 win for the Warriors who will
Martinsville host Fleming next week while
42 Martinsville will travel to face Hidden
Valley.

afternoon session. Roanoke College
tangled with Bridgewater in game number

Eagles vs. Maroons Page Moir's squad looked to

5 in a row coming in.
But Bridgewater's Josh Fox made a
game of it in the opening minutes,
nailing a longe range three pointer
from the corner pocket.
Roanoke was patient and began to
take control though as Tee Jackson
dials long distance on a bomb of his
own from the right side. The Noke
opened up a nice working margin.
The Maroons pulled away later
