Brambleton Avenue is closed while crews
repair a fallen utility pole.

Officers were called to the
intersection of Brambleton Avenue and
Rosewood Street just after 1 o'clock
this morning for a single vehicle
accident.

Police say the vehicle hit a
utility pole causing it to fall into
the road.

The driver was taken to the
hospital.

Charges are pending.

Meanwhile, the 26-hundred block
of Brambleton Avenue will remain closed
until the pole is repaired.

three unsolved murders are still
capturing the attention of Southwestern
Virginia...

As well as the Henry County
Sherriff's department.

Short were found dead in their Henry
County home -

A month later, their young
daughter Jennifer's body was discovered
in North Carolina.

Since that time authorities have
followed up on dozens of tips - but
none have lead to their killer.

Still, the Henry County Sheriff's
department assures the case is actively
under investigation - with the tips
continuing to come in.

is making plans for a memorial river-
front park in Morgantown.

The park would honor the actor,
rather than the characters he played.

It would be home to a statue and
sculptures highlighting Knotts's career

Although he is best known for his

The actor died last February at
the age of 81.

The committee is trying to raise
50 thousand dollars for the statue.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident One man is dead after a

two-vehicle accident in Wythe County.

It happened at around 12:30
yesterday afternoon on Chapman road.

Authorities say 73-year-old John
Luthren Duncan of Wytheville was headed
northbound, when his vehicle crossed
over the center line and hit a truck
head-on.

Duncan was pronounced dead at the
hospital.

The driver of the truck was also
sent to the hospital but sustained only
minor injuries.
