Some residents in Salem were
unable to get to their house this
afternoon.

Police blocked a portion of
Dominion Lane.

According to Chief Jim Bryant,
officers were trying to serve a failure
to appear warrant on a man, but he
wasn't cooperating.

Bryant says the man was arrested
and taken to jail and the road has
reopened.

of things on Route 220 north of
Roanoke.

running over and killing a Virginia
Tech student entered a guilty plea
today to involuntary manslaughter.

VO-NAT 21-year-old Aaron Barlow Pierce entered

an Alford Plea, which means he admits
there is enough evidence to convict
him.

Police say Pierce accidentally ran over
18-year-old freshman Brian McCloskey in
November of 2005.
*CG locator Blacksburg McCloskey was found along a walking November 2005 trail near Christine Court in

Blacksburg, a trail not meant for
driving, but frequently used at the
time as a driving shortcut..

McCloskey died five days later from his
injuries.

Pierce admitted using the shortcut that
night, but says he never knew he had
struck anyone.

The judge ordered a pre-sentence report
before sentencing.

Pierce faces up to ten years in prison.

The assertion now being made is that
the central belief of Christianity,

the physical resurrection of Jesus
Christ into heaven, is wrong. And

the Discovery Channel says it has the
bones to prove it.

According to Christian doctrine, The
Church of the Holy Sepulchre now

stands on the site where Jesus was
entombed after his crucifixion and

from which he rose to heaven -- two
days later.

But, it's now being claimed that Jesus
was really buried in one of the

thousands of ancient tombs to be found
around Jerusalem. And not only

that, but the bones of the whole Jesus
clan, of Mary -- his mother,

Joseph -- his father, and Mary
Magdalene -- some say his wife, were

buried with him.

It was common in biblical times for

families with means to entomb the

bones of their dead ancesters in stone
boxes. But this alleged

discovery is either a revelation to
challenge the very foundations of

Christian belief -- or it's a cynical
promotion of a Discovery Channel

program.

factual and historic accuracy of

the central tenants of Christian belief
-- but in this case the the

archeological establishment has lined
up to label this latest claim as

ANCHOR ON CAM One man is dead after a
GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident two-vehicle accident in Wythe County.

It happened around 12:30
yesterday afternoon on Chapman Road.

Authorities say 73-year-old John
Luthren Duncan of Wytheville was headed
northbound when his vehicle crossed
over the center line, and hit a truck
head-on.

Duncan was pronounced dead at the
hospital.

The driver of the truck was also
sent to the hospital but sustained only
minor injuries.

with police trying to serve a capias
CAPE-ee-us on a man who'd failed to
show up for his day in court.

A dozen police cars blocked Dominion
Lane until a few minutes before noon.

Eventually the suspect came out

peacefully, was arrested and taken to
jail.

two weeks in Daytona, the Nextel Cup

circuit loaded up the wagons, and
headed west for this weekend's Auto
Club 500 at the California Speedway.

Fox Sports Dale Earnahardt, Junior was :00 among the drivers who had engine
trouble yesterday, blowing up at lap
56, riding the merry go round, and then
taking a bow for his efforts.

He wound up 40th after starting 5th.

Late in the race, David
Reutimann took a hard lick, smacking
the wall in his Domino's Toyota,
bringing out the red flag.

Kevin Harvick was 2nd out of
the final pit stop, but a flat tire
ended his hopes and the Daytona 500
winner finished 17th.

Richard Childress couldn't believe
it.

Matt Kenseth led the most laps,
including the one that counted.

He held off pole- sitter Jeff Gordon
and Jimmie Johnson to take the
checkered flag, for his 2nd Cup win at
California and 2nd win of the weekend.
