GRAPHIC=MIKE AND JEAN DOUBLE BOX So far this year Hometown Hoops

Weekly has taken us to hometowns all
over the region from Wythe County to
Henry County.

But tonight, Mike Stevens says
we're heading out of the country. MIKE ON CAM

GRAPHIC=HOMETOWN HOOPS Jean, most teams make it to the

state tournament with just the right
combination of good coaching, good
talent and good chemistry.

The Colonels of William Fleming
have all of that, plus a little
international influence.

OQ=...FERNCLIFF DR." LAUGH << Meet Derlin Kumbi - one of
(END SOT) William Fleming's inside enforcers.

He's a part-time starter who plays to
the whistle on every single play.

NAT OF WHISTLE

MICKEY HARDY 32429

Kumbi looks and sounds just like
the rest of his Fleming teammates, but
on senior night - trust me - the
six-foot four inch foreign exchange
student was the only one introduced
whose home address was listed as
Stockholm, Sweden.

MARSHALL ASHFORD 32720

MICKEY HARDY 32523

DERLIN KUMBI 33119 or 33355

Kumbi hopes to stay in the states
and attend college here but right now
he's focused on keeping the Colonels'
season alive in the state tournament
with his hustle and continuing his
adjustment to hoops in the states.

DERLIN 33320

His coach knows a little about
making moves to further one's
basketball career. After starring at
William Byrd - Hardy played two years
at Ferrum and then migrated to Virginia
Tech where he finished up his career in
the early 80s under Charlie Moir.

Getting Kumbi has certainly
opened his eyes to the exchange student
process.

People on other nearby islands
were advised to move to higher ground,

Stromboli has been erupting at
varying degrees of intensity for
2-thousand years.

The last time an large eruption
happened, in December 2002,

the island was closed to visitors for

Two baby Sumatran tigers have become
fast friends with a set of young
orangutan twins.

The friendship is blossoming at an
animal hospital- in Indonesia.

After being abandoned by their
mothers shortly after birth, the four
now play fight, nipping and teasing
each other. When they are worn out,
they cuddle up for a shared nap. Zoo
keepers said that there have been no
clashes between the two sets of animals
in the one month that they have been
living together.
