16 year old Robin Everett Joyce Jr. was
shot in the chest by his brother.

to stop a dangerous equine illness.

Sky Meadows and Shenandoah
River State Parks in Northern Virginia
will be closed to horses until March
12. All other state parks will remain
open to horses.

The state is trying to stop the
spread of Equine Herpes Virus-One. The
only cases, so far, have been in
Northern Virginia.

The Virginia Horse Center in
Lexington cancelled the Virginia
Intermont Classic scheduled for March 8
through the 11th out of caution.
However, the Horse Center is open and
all other events are still on as
scheduled.

Martinsville. The Bulldogs looking
to return to Richmond to defend their

Titans from Hidden Valley who had never
been past the District Tournament
before this season.

Titans vs Bulldogs The Northside gym was jam-packed
for the State Quarterfinal showdown as
the two teams tried to punch their
ticket to the City of Monuments.

The first quarter was almost dead
even, but the Titans led by two after
one thanks in part ot the efforts of
T.C. Bane.

The Titans got some breathing
room in the second quarter as Ben Boggs
goes coast-to-coast at the halftime
buzzer. Hidden Valley led by 15 points
- 44 to 29 at the break.

But Troy Wells players slapped on
the press in the third quarter and
senior Tracy Hairston helped the Dogs
chop the lead down to 10.

before coming up short.

for a second straight year and take the
final step.

They would have to deal with
Elizabeth Basham the Senior for the
Falcons. She is headed to play for

Virginia Tech Next season and showing

3 pointers in the second quarter. But
she needed some help.

Cause Hidden Valley has a lot of
weapons. Abby Oliver will spot up for
the 3-pointer on the side and find
nothing but net for the Titans.

anthem. The competition then began
with 448 wrestlers competing in 784
bouts to crown 28 state champions this
weekend. In the double A ranks,
Christiansburg is a solid favorite to
take home its 6th consecutive team
title, but it would be the first for
Blue Demons first year head coach Daryl
Weber.

DARYL:

In single A, Glenvar has a qualifier in
13 of the 14 weight classes this
weekend. The Highlanders are aiming to

dethrone three time defending champ
Manassas Park. Jamie Soltis has a
senior laden team with lots of
experience, finishing 3rd in each of
the past two years. A championship
would be the first for the school since
1972.

Investigators say it wasn't
technically a bank robbery, since the
