waiting, Lori Pleasants' family finally
has closure.

Their daughter's killer was found
guilty of first degree murder last
night.

It took a jury nearly 6 hours to
find William Gutersloh guilty of
strangling Pleasants and then cutting
her wrist to make it look like a
suicide.

Pleasant's friends and family
openly weeped, hugged and prayed in the
courtroom after the verdict was read.

Even Radford's Police chief and
the detectives who worked on the case
were crying.

The case was based largely on
three former friends of William
Gutersloh who say he confessed to the
murder.

The jury will back in the
courtroom at 9 a-m on Monday to begin
the sentencing phase of the trial.

shooting death of a Martinsville
teenager.

His 14 year old brother is now

charged with first degree murder.

16 year old Robin Everett Joyce Jr. was
shot in the chest by his brother.

He was killed last month in

Alabama shows why schools in Virginia
hold drills each year.

Heavy wind, sleet, snow, and lots
of rain has pounded parts of New
England, with some low lying areas
along Cape Cod getting up to a foot of
rain Friday.

Dozens of streets across the Cape
were under water making for some
treacherous driving and stranding
motorists throughout the day.


Many homes just north of Boston
were flooded, and firefighters had to
go door to door making sure everyone
was ok.

The slick conditions across the
state lead to dozens of accidents
including two fatalities.

South Carolina was not spared
from Thursday's storm system that
marched across the Southeast.

A number of large trees were
knocked down by the strong winds
associated with the storm.

Several vehicles and mobile homes
were damaged, and several thousand
homes lost electricity.

Lightning struck one Columbia
area home and caused $55,000 dollars in
damage.

Their daughter's killer was found
guilty of first degree murder last
night.

It took a jury nearly 6 hours to

openly weeped, hugged and prayed in the
courtroom after the verdict was read.

Even Radford's Police chief and
the detectives who worked on the case
were crying.

The case was based largely on
three former friends of William
Gutersloh who say he confessed to the
murder.

The jury will back in the
courtroom at 9 a-m on Monday to begin
the sentencing phase of the trial.

story with protesters setting fire to
at least a dozen vehicles and clashing
with police.

At least 170 people were arrested.

This was the second night of violent
street battles. It all sparked Thursday
morning when squatters occupying a
downtown building were evicted. This
angered many young people because for
years they have viewed the building as
free public housing. The city evicted
them because the building had been sold
six years ago to a Christian
congregation -- but the squatters had
refused to leave.

man accused of murdering his ex
girlfriend at a Walmart.

judge did NOT decide if Rodney Startz
would be able to take back his guilty
plea to the first degree murder of
Donna Angelo.

The judge also granted the
defense another mental evaluation to

see if Startz is competent to stand
trial.

Police say he walked into the
Fairlawn Walmart last year and shot
Angelo in the head.

Startz has said he stopped taking
antidepressants shortly before the
shooting...and the side effects are
what drove him to murder.

The Elliston man is serving a
38-year sentence for molesting his
girlfriend's daughter.

She later told her therapist she
made up the story.

refused to overturn Carpitcher's
conviction yesterday.

The Court said Carpitcher had
established only that "the victim spoke
falsely on one or more occasions."
