23 year old victim in the bedroom of
her Radford apartment.

That was nearly seven years ago.

He claimed it was an accident.

The jury today recommended the maximum
penalty for first degree murder:

across much of Virginia... meaning the
danger of brush fires was extremely
high.

when at least two separate brush and
grass fires took off.

This one, near the Ashley
Plantation Golf Course, scorched a
large area of grass.

Firefighters are still on

Bassett furniture is
cutting 15-percent of its workforce.

cases of group-A Strep.

A total of 178 residents
and employees of Friendship Retirement
Community have now been tested.

The latest were not
experiencing any symptoms and are now
being treated with antibiotics.

The situation first came to
light last week when a former resident
of Eastwood, who had died, was found to

Federal investigators believe English
made eight false statements to V-DOT,
obscuring the fact that English helped
Colyer do some of the work Colyer was

A car drove into the Arby's and
Stop-In Food Mart on North Main Street
around 7:30.

A man was sitting in a booth, as
a Nissan Altima crashed through the
glass.

No one was hurt in the incident.

A full-length glass window was
shattered, and the metal framing was
bent in.

Witnesses say it sounded like a
bomb had gone off.

candidate to run for a seat on the
school board.

his plans this afternoon during a news
conference outside Glenvar Middle
School. Wymer worked as a teacher,
athletic director, assistant principal,
and central office administrator before
his retirement in 2003.

close yesterday and this afternoon the
Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association
announced its all-ACC selections.

The first team includes three
unanimous selections in Jared Dudley of
Boston College, North Carolina's Tyler
Hansbrough and Florida State's Al
Thornton.

The fourth highest vote getter
was also on the team last year - UVA's
Sean Singletary.

UVa's Floor general averaged 19
points a game for the Cavaliers while
also running the offense.

His backcourt mate, Roanoke's
J.R. Reynolds, was the top vote getter
on the all-ACC second team.

J.R. had his most productive year
ever in a UVA uniform averaging 18
points a game.

Two Hokies were also honored.
Zabian Dowdell joins Singletary on the
first team. Zabe was the fifth highest
vote getter in the balloting after
averaging 18 points a game.

His running mate Jamon Gordon was
selected to the all-ACC third team
after leading the conference in steals.

In fact - Jamon and Zabian were
one and two in the ACC steals
department, and as a result they are
both members of the exclusive five man
all-ACC defensive team.

together as Freshman and have roomed

have Tyler Hansbrough in the lineup for
the ACC tournament later this week, but
thanks to what happened in the final
seconds of the Duke-Carolina game
yesterday right here on WDBJ-7 - he
will be a masked man.

VO-NAT Hansbrough was fouled and

bloodied by Duke's Gerald Henderson on
what was ruled a flagrant foul.
Henderson got the boot and will miss
the Blue Devils opening round game
against NC State.

That we knew last night, but
today we found out that Hanbrough does
have a broken nose.

He suffered a small non-displaced
fracture and is being fitted with a
custom-made protective mask, if
everything goes as planned, Psyco T
should be ready for the Heel's first
tournament game Friday at Noon. The
fracture was discovered during an X-ray
this morning.

Overall it was a rough day for

Tyler - who injured a tooth earlier in
the game and will probably need a root
canal after the season ends.

seed in this week's ACC Tournament was
like game of "Hot Potato". First
Virginia and then Virginia Tech failed
to seal the deal in their respective
weekend games.

In the end Carolina avoided
dropping all the way to the 5 seed and
claimed the top spot of the Conference
as they head to Tampa.

For Tech coach Seth Greenberg it
will be a very interesting trip to say
the least.

From 1996 until he arrived at
Tech in 2003 - Greenberg was the Head
coach at the University of South
Florida, and the Tampa-St. Pete area
was his home.
