just so upset to see this
Congressman John Tierney is leading the
House panel that will hear from
a soldier wounded in Iraq who
experienced the squalled conditions and
bureaucratic problems at the army
hospital.
In the wake of a Washington Post
investigation.. the Army Secretary
fired the Medical Centers commander..
THEN Defense Secretary Roberts
Gates stepped in and demanded the
resignation of the Army Secretary.
(Robert Gates, Secretary of Defense)
GATES 16:03:31 I am disappointed that
some in the Army have not
adequately appreciated the seriousness
of the situation pertaining to
outpatient care at Walter Reed
Gates has also put together an outside

Walter Reed. While praising the Defense
Secretarys swift action..
Democrats are pointing a finger at the
White House.
(Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI), Senate Armed
Services Committee Chairman)
LEVIN 19:03:46 It's just been, I think,
a fiasco in terms of the way
this administration has dealt with this
war. And part of it has been the
lack of planning and preparation for
the casualties of war.
President Bush called the situation at
Walter Reed unacceptable and is
naming a bi-partisan commission for a
wide-ranging review of military
and veterans hospitals.
CLOSE: The general who was fired as

Gates has also put together an outside
