GRAPHIC=FATAL FIRE One person is dead after a house

fire in Rockbridge County.

It happened just before noon
yesterday at this home on Pine Forest
Road just off Route 11 near Lexington.

When firefighters arrived, heavy
flames were showing throughout.

Once crews got it under control,
they found 86-year-old Charles Roscoe
Nicely dead in the kitchen.

State Police have been called in
to investigate but we're told the fire
is not considered suspicious.

We also understand two
firefighters suffered minor injuries at
the scene.

homeless after it ripped through her
house near Forest in Bedford yesterday

afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the
home on Matthew Talbot Road around 1
o'clock.

Heavy flames were already coming
from the back of the two-story home.

A garage behind it also was
destroyed by the fire.

The homeowner, Carole Lilly,
escaped injury but was given oxygen at
the scene.

The Red Cross is assisting her
with food and clothing.

The fire also scorched about
three acres of woodland around the home
before the crew got it contained.

damage to a Salem home yesterday
morning.

No one was inside the
Tennessee Avenue house when the fire
broke out around 7:30.

The cause was traced to a
gas furnace in the basement.

Damage is estimated at
80-thousand dollars.

review of the night a Botetourt County
sheriff's deputy ended up in a
10-year-old girl's bedroom.

Sergeant J-A Wood thought Mark
and Cheryl Hunsberger were not home,
but he realized half a dozen teenagers
were having a party in the basement.

When Deputy Wood called parents
to come get their kids, one asked the

officer to help him find his 16-year
old daughter.

Only after the two men ended up
in the TEN-year old's room, did they
discover the parents were home.

attacked residents in one Roanoke
neighborhood, health officials have
found rabid animals in two other areas.

VO-NAT There was no human exposure in

the latest cases, but health officials
say rabies was confirmed Thursday in
two separate incidents.

One involved a fox in the
vicinity of King Street Northeast in
the city of Roanoke.

The other involved a skunk near
Orlando Court in Roanoke County.

The attacks in February occurred

near Morwanda Street in the city.

Cold temperatures late last week
and a morning dusting of snow had
people in New York's Times Square
bundling up.

The temperature in Central Park
was recorded at 14-degrees at 9:30
Wedneday morning.

With the wind chill, the
temperature felt like 4-degrees.

Little snow fell in the Big
Apple, but the temperatures remained
bitterly cold.

Good news if you travel to New
York this weekend - temperatures are
expected to head back into the mid-40's
today and tomorrow.

And... Old Man winter smacked the
Cleveland, Ohio region this week,
dumping about three inches of new snow,
which caused numerous morning rush hour
accidents.

Video from a Cleveland television
station showed the scene along one
roadway, with multiple vehicles

spun-out or damaged from
fender-benders. The storm was part of
a system that dumped snow in Michigan,
Ohio and other Northeastern states.

conviction.

He was a long-time fixture in
Blacksburg.

Now he's headed to prison.

counts of gross sexual imposition.

He will serve 15 years behind

with manslaughter over a fatal scuffle
in Pittsylvania County.

Investigators say a
17-year-old got into a fight Thursday
afternoon with 24-year-old Jeremy
Antonia Davis outside Davis' home in
Sutherlin.

The teenager put Davis in a
headlock and when the teenager let go,
Davis collapsed.

Davis died at Danville Regional Medical
Center.

The 17-year-old is being
held at a juvenile detention center.

GRAPHIC=PLANE CRASH Federal investigators are trying

to determine the cause of a plane crash
that killed two people last night.

The small plane went down on a busy
street in Munster, Illinois just a mile
away from the airport.

Police say the twin-engine
Beechcraft Baron hit the ground nose
first.

They say visibility was low at the
time because of light rain.

There is no word yet on where the
plane originated or where it was
headed.

Authorities have not identified the
victims. But they say both of them were
men believed to be in their 30's or
40's.

out what caused a major pile-up on
Interstate 40 near Nashville last
night.

involved including seven tractor
trailors, one even overturned.. At
least one person was killed.

The accident shut down eastbound
lanes of I-40 and the westbound lanes
were backed up for miles.

company more than his two cents worth
on the matter.
